Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to S***?
No kidding. In Phoenix we had a group from the Phoenix Boys Club come up for sparring. Now, that's in a different "'hood" than the gym. They came in and were warming up, putting gloves on and the like, when several locals came in. My uncle, being constantly armed himself, noticed the guns under their shirts and pointed it out to me. Being stupid and being mad that they'd bring that crap into the gym I 'bodied' them towards the far door, which nearly made my uncle kill me. But I couldn't understand it. You are in a boxing gym where fighting is ok; the other guys have gloves on. Put 'em up and handle your business. Shoot one another elsewhere.

Though in the early 90's an Ice cream van driver got shot during the day for playing his music loud after waking up a man who had been sleeping after a nightshift working. :o
I'd of done the same thing. If I would've came home from my tough factory job and I can't get any sleep because some fruity music is being blasted by some guy (probably a pedophile) who won't get a real job, i'd have the same reaction. Atleast he didn't shoot him over not doing the dishes (like someone around here did to their wife).
Ohhh please, do tell, For those of us too new to the site to know who your talking about.

Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to S***?
For those Brits on here, I have a theory:
I think that British people have centuries of breeding behind us to make us aggressive and violent. For 400 years, we sailed around the world conquering and occupying people's lands, we had a standing professional army that was the first in the world with generations of our population surviving or getting rich by simply being more aggressive, better trained and more technologically and commercially equipped than everyone else. Socially, Britain has always been lawless, violent and full of binge-drinkers .... those that disagree should check out the real social history of this place.
Once we decided to give people back their countries, or were booted out, we had the disintegration of our entire economy aided by the fact we had fought WW1 and WW2 (and from the beginning!). We fell into the spiral of economic disintegration because our manufacturing industry no longer had the wherewithal to simply plunder raw materials from around the world to make into products.
Strikes, riots, protests etc were as a result of us struggling to find our new place in the world, yet still being inherently quite militaristic in our attempts to express that failure. For a while, we could find relief in small wars against people and in football holliganism. You will seldom find any Brits who are really anti-war .... we love wars and have fought more of them than any country in history.
Now, we have a PC society that is essentially female-dominated. That's not some sexist statement, I am referring to social mores and customs, a collective belief in civic duty but without any corresponding responsibility to do things ourselves (there's always a 'system' to blame) etc.
This has meant that the latent aggression and violence that has bred into the population for generations upon generations is now turning in on itself.
Anyway.... rant over. :-[
Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to shit?
xVery good points you make, but when looked at to me its bollocks ;D
Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to shit?
But its true what you say about crime in the 19 century and before crime was worse than it is now but that applies to everywhere.

CC good posting mate
Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to S***?
The UK sounds like a seriously unfunny joke with all of these dullard and hopeless youths. Respect for authority is seriously lacking.
Korea might not be the most exciting place, but I do really like the free and easy way I can live here. Crime is so minimal. Of course there is crime but you would never recieve a verbal diatribe from a teenager with rampant hormones. Korea has a strong sense of the family unit and it is the respect for the elder generation that keeps it cool.
There sure are no kids hanging out on street corners and the worst you are likely to get is a friendly " Hi!".
Im not coming back to the UK anytime soon, If ever at all.
I get BBC entertainment out here and its an awful channel. All they ever show is crime dramas. A nation polluted with this crap is definitely not healthy. Just a minor observation there. The Korean dramas are so tame and reflect much more hope.
With the news, media and tv back home its a constant spiral of morbundity and negativity.
Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to S***?
Yes, we Brits love rules. We like being told what to do and what our place in society is. We invent 'systems', 'processes' and beaurocracy in order that we don't need to excercise discretion or common sense - the 'system' will find the answer for us.
Unfortunately, we are amongst the worst beaurocrats in the world, in terms of efficiency. We also then follow the rules at the expense of fairness and natural justice.
People then either lose faith in those systems or begin to play the rules to their advantage, thus dropping out of taxpaying or law abiding society.
Our consumerist society has evolved to the point where people have an unrealistic sense of entitlement, or they are deluded about their net worth to society and the world. This inevitably leads to anger and bitterness about material wealth (or fame), but without any sense of responsibility or any concept of sacrifice or work to reach that goal.
You see evidence of this everywhere:
- parents blaming schools or society for their childrens behavioural problems
- people going on reality TV shows to 'get famous'
- a civil service that is wholly out of touch with society, staffed be people whose job is to 'follow rules', not actually think about outcomes
- an education system in disarray
- rising crime and a generation of abandoned feral youth.

Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to S***?

Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to S***?

Substitute "Brits" with Americans also add that we hate being told what to do and we should come out with something better, right? Nope, I swear that if the beginning was rewritten, the rest could stay the same.
Good posts!
Re: Anyone elses neighborhood gone to shit?
It's the same story here in Canada too, I just heard (on the news) about 3 teenage girls in Nova Scotia (east coast) who beat a female senior citizen with metal table legs after stalking here, taunting her, and chasing her down a dark walkway. It was completely unprovoked.
Apparently they're being fairly defiant in the courtroom too... Because its Canada and our laws are borderline fucking retarded you can't even release the names or pictures of the people who did it because they're underage. I'm getting really tired of this protecting the poor perpetrator mentality that permeates this country.
Somebody does that to my grandma, I'll come to the courtroom and fucking kill you myself.
