Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
Seems to me to be all a bit of hype and hysteria. ODLHA should be putting more energy into actually winning a fight at the moment then to be manipulating what goes on in Ring magazine. But I guess his staff wont so its a tough call for me. Will be interesting to see how it goes though.
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
Personally I believe it is great for the sport because anything the golden boy touches makes money. So I believe the magazine will become more mainstream, and in return help the sport of boxing.
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
I for one am not pleased with this turn of events. Somehow, someway, on some dark and gloomy day, Oscar will use this to his fighters advantage.
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
to mee this is very odd
personall i can give a fook
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
Whether anyone likes it or not,it will,at some point, whether covert or overt,be used to GBP in some way. Whether it be biased rankings,a biased article etc,it will happen. Personally,I thought some of the RING rankings were just as bad as the organisations but it had good ideas. I guess we shall just have to wait and see.
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
Oscar is a genius, he knows what he's doing. I don't think this good or bad for the fight game though
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
I'm not getting the vitriol directed at Oscar over this Ring Magazine purchase.
Surely Oscar has been good for the sport of boxing these past ten years or am i missing something?
He is a personality and has charisma and combined with being a pretty good fighter gets him major press and attention. Boxing needs every bit of good press it can get considering the sport no longer ranks that high amongst the other elite sports it is in competition with.
I can't see Oscar stuffing the Ring Magazine up, it's not in his best interest to do so.

No way are the Ring rankings as bad as the alphabet idiots. Most all positions can be justified! Which can't be said of the other jokers. DLH & the Ring together can only be good for boxing!
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
I hope he sends more copies to England coz you cant find it anywhere where I live:(
Re: OSCAR BUYS RING MAGIZINE
Wow, how terrible, I'm sure there was never ever a single boxing fan or business man that had his hand in how the rankings were calculated. And there was never any debate over who was on the list. ::**
So Oscar has the magazine now, so what. I'm sure it will be more scrutinized than ever before. Just because he bought it doesn't mean it's going to turn to crap. Settle down, settle down.
ODLH buys The Ring magazine
I saw in the USA Today newspaper that Oscar has purchased The Ring magazine, The Bible of Boxing. He claims that there will be independence in the editorial department but isn't this kind of too much self interest involved here? I mean the Ring hasn't been making much money in years from an advertising stand point that I can see from working in the publishing field so maybe this was a way to keep it going. Just my thoughts.

About the 5th thread on this mate.
Re: ODLH buys The Ring magazine
Oscar will use the prestigious magazine as a publicity tool for himself and his fighters. This is a shame as the independence of it should remain and the owner always has influence, no matter how much they say he won't.
