Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
I'd go with Hatton. Diaz looks to have the faster handspeed, cleaner puncher but Hatton is a little animal at 140. Relentless. I don't think Juan has the power to trouble Hatton, and I think Hatton hits hard enough to deterr Juan. Juan's jab could help him win rounds though,if he used it more often. I'd like Hatton via late stoppage.

Accuracy IS power, if you get hit in the head enough times your body fails on you, Diaz doesn't have that huge shot, but you don't need it to be Juan Diaz. No one is saying he's a KO artist but he's making fighters quit on their stool, even more impressive when you consider it's world title fights.
Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
This would be a very interesting fight..I think Juans workrate is better but Ricky easily has the edge in rib-breaking power. Ricky has better movement too and like somebody said a better boxing brain. If Juan just stayed inside like he did against Julio, Hatton would love him for it and dismantle him with his body shots...
STILL this is all well and good..but I just don't see Juan moving up...if anything in my eyes he could stand to lose a few pounds. He doesn't look in the best shape (although cardiovascullarly amazing!) and if he dropped the bodyfat he could easily move down a division. So I don't think that the best move for him would be to move up to light welter just yet. I think it would be more of a hindrance to him than an advantage. He needs to lean up a bit before he moves up because he's chubby as it is. If he added more weight to his frame at this stage i've got to believe it wouldn't be 'good' weight. Just my 2 cents..

I agree with theory..how many people have quit against this guy so far....frietas, diaz, has there been any others ??
Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
It would be a great war.A real close fight too. I'd take Ricky to edge it
Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
Good Call! this would definetly be one hell of a fight all out action all out war and all of the makings of Fight of the Year written all over it!
Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
i see the breaking of compubox records as well in this fight haahha
Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
32 or 33 wins and 17 ko's his power is not that great even with the accuracy he can not knock people out i mean my god i seen he hit a guy like 12 times in a row and nothing the guy barely blinks i just think his style is going to end his career early he is a pessure fighter with no power and i am surprised he has made it this far and moving up in weight he might find problems because unlike Paulie he does not try to box and move and he will be with bigger hitter that have twice his power and that might be the end of them if he can not back them up then what is he going to do sorry i come off harsh on Juan

Freitas and Diaz are the only guys that matter on his record on the world stage, he's 2 for 2.
Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
Again in regards to Juan power.
Hes us not a powere puncher but he accumilates/lands soo many punches that it all adds up and is as effective as it can be.

Completely agree...
World stage hes 2-2 hack it either Diaz or Freitas were elite but they were world class.
Re: Ricky Hatton vs. Juan Diaz @ 140. What are your thoughts?
I know Cut what your saying about accumulation but with only 17 ko's with 32 or 33 wins with all that accuracy he still lacks alot of power hence when i say if he were to run in to someone that had the same style with a chin and a punch i would find Juan on the ground knocked out hence 140 might not be a good weight because he is not a boxer like Pualie and that is why he will have trouble in light welter because his power is weak in lightweight

Well his power can increase if he moves up.
Sometimes fighters carry their weight well when they move up and even become stronger.
So you never know here Juan might put on them extra 5 pounds + whatever he gains on fight night and that might carry well with his body and give him some power.
