Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
When he is on top of his game, his head movement, footwork and ability to turn fighters in to his favourite punch. Good question, but perhaps a more telling one would be - 'What are Hatton's and Mayweather's weaknesses'? Ask that, and see that we are dealing with two great fighters, because there aren't that many weaknesses with either of them.

Wtf do you mean by ethnicity, because how you spelled it means that because he's white he's good.
Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
Hatton is better then many give him credit for....Before anyone starts blasting me saying stuff like well he is a P4P fighter and two division champ and that is a stupid statement hear me out....
Ricky used to be a relentess pressure fighter who gave his guy no room to breathe..and it worked well for him obviously....Hatton also knows you can not keep that style up for too long for obvious reasons...
Ricky developed the hit and hold tatic that yes is boring at times but getting in your shots then holding a guy will wear them the hell out especially if done right...in hence you are making that guy hold up your body weight every 15 seconds...an added stamina drain to already fight pace...when the time is right Ricky knows enough to use the stamina advantage then go to work in classic Hatton style...giving him the advantage of being the fresher guy and the fact you have to fight his fight...Or just be left on the defensive due to the fact you are wore out...either way Hatton is on top in the situation....
So Ricky has not lost anything or has not become less of a fighter just the opposite...Hattan has become a smart fighter who has the skill to pour it on all night but knows the right time to do it......
Something that Arturo Gatti was capable of but chose not to..and look what it did to him.....
Hatton has gotten better and will continue to improve,,,,he will not win against Floyd but then again who has??
Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
Like the way you analyse Hatton's style and adaptability. He is a real class act, as any true boxing fan knows. It might sound boring, but we should just appreciate the fact that two top, top quality fighters are meeting each other.
Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
An asset is a useful thing or quality. Hatton's ethnicity is def. a useful thing or quality.

Good analysis Daxx CC to ya.
I dont go for the Gatti analogy but to each his own.Hatton all around better skilled Imo.
I'm picking Hatton but I am a realist as well. The only way is to get inside and STAY inside.Pure focus on body/arms/CHEST/and Ribs.He has to make it ugly and fast paced, relentless.I see this as the only way he will prevail.Do not give Maywither Time to Fall back and touch him coming in with potshots and fistic flurry's.For the very early rounds I KNOW Hatton will catch leather and will be very vulnerable .This is the defining time of this fight. He must Steel himself and Bury himself in Floyd's Chest. If he sits on the outside and/or lets off the volume and pressure Floyd will turn him into ground chuck beef.Keep the punches Short and Rapid (Imo his handspeed will suprise people alot).I also think If he gets into "picking" when he Lets loose as opposed to Clinching close ,It will be very dangerous but yes Necessary at times.Floyd can calculate him and he'll become to reactive to be effective against Floyd.I know it may be cliche but pressure kills the will to resist.
The saying goes that fighter A has to fight the PERFECT fight to win....while fighter B can afford a few mistakes because of superior skills......In this case I dont buy that. This will be a great fight.I need more coffee :o
Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
Hatton is going to have hell on the inside, even though the inside is the only place he can win. When he gets people on the ropes he tends to try to push his opponents arms around to try and sneak that hook around, but watch him as he does this as he will keep both arms out to the side with his elbows up high on each side, and his middle is wide open. If he can't get those punches off faster and quicker with his middle exposed, Floyd will touch his ribs or gut or more likely throw some big uppercuts. Floyd's speed is what will allow him to be put on the ropes and execute, then he will slip out to his left after landing and catch Ricky with straight rights or hooks. Hatton has to do damage early as I'm telling you he will pay early, unless Floyd wants to make him chase him for a few rounds. I think either way by the 7th round Hatton will be exhausted, and he can't win after that IMO. I may not be seeing what others are seeing, and my predictions are usually wrong, but damn if I don't see a bloodbath guys.
Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
One of the most coherent posts I've seen from you, Jeff, and I mean that in a good way. If he has to steel himself, then there is no danger that Ricky will. He is a true warrior, and that's why people love him. I think speed will be the difference, but I hope it will come down to heart, desire and body punching.
Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
How do you see a "bloodbath"? There is no way that these two fighters are so far apart for that to happen. If this fight is going to be so one sided, why are you even spending your time on it?

Don't be mistaken Hatton is a better fighter then Gatti was but my point was Gatti had the ability to do what Hatton does now but decided to make every fight a war...Many people forget that Gatti could box but choose not to

Excuse me? Did I insult you or something? I just gave my opinion, which I have a right to do, without being negative or offensive to anyone.. If what I said was so out of line ask the mods to remove it. I only expressed how I see the fight going, I didn't say it was the truth or an absolute. If you don't like what I say then don't read it.

I know exactly what your saying........and your right about the spinning on angles.A countering Maywither is a dangerous Maywither.Call me certifiable and nuts but if It comes down to Body attacks .....I'll take Hatton.

Well Spicoli, I am a die hard Hatton fan but that doesn't mean I believe he'll win. I sure as hell hope he does, I just don't see it. If he does I guess I'll be packing my sh#t and trying to hitch a ride to an out of the way planet :-\, and be as happy as hell doing it. Maybe my new buddy WRIGHT will forgive me for my opinion and send me postcards from earth during my lonely existence. Either way I can't wait for the fight, I'll have my donut's on the couch next to me ;D

Wright Dude...come on man? Thanks for the Coherent "compliment"......... I Think. But thats what people DO HERE.They discuss,They Disagree,They Debate. It keeps us Vigorous and In tune with Boxing In general.Sometimes People posts with Passion but You dont have to Lead with your chin so much.Be cool.
Re: What is Hattons greatest asset
Just started here, and I have been leading with my chin too much, you're right. I'm giving myself a cool click/beer for understanding your analogies/metaphors for the first time. Just think that Legion might be underestimating Ricky.
