I don't mean to be distasteful, but I think Gerald McClellan will be remembered for 'that' fight, and not all the good ones he had before?

prince naseem - getting a boxing masterclass by barrera or being a podgy shell of himself who run people over with his car.
chris eubank - for being that annoying twat on reality tv shows.
surely mcClellan will be remebered for what he got upto outside the ring??
Carlos Monzon?
Sonny Liston?
Don Curry?
Herol Graham?
I don't think Tyson will be, it's just that it's fresh in our memories. Give it ten years and he will be an absolute legend again.
Carl Froch for retiring a world champion without ever fighting someone in the top 10 in his devision ::**
Good call on Liston and Monzon.Quote:

The following fighters were very good but COULD be remembered for their tough losses
Ingmar Johannsen for being nearly killed by Floyd Patterson
Floyd Patterson for being demolished by Sonny Liston TWICE and beaten into retierment by Ali
Jake LaMatta for the Saint Valentines Day Massacre
Tommy Hearns for running out of gas vs Ray Leonard and getting out gunned by Marvin Hagler

Not a lot of people know about the stuff that wen't on outside the ring unless your a hardcore to the bone fan and have read up on it.
For me I like to remember Monzon for almost punching off Ninos head with that deadly right hand. My god was that brutal!! :o

I'm saying that the only people who remember Monzon in that light either witnessed/where around in that time and or hardcore fans who read up a lot.
That's like saying 'Vita' is mostly remembered for how his career and life ended.
I can assure you 'X' & TM that even more then 70% don't know or even remember 'Vita' for that but they remember him more for beating 'Manos De Piedra' and giving him some of the toughest fights he had as a Lightweight.
I just think that what happened with 'Escopeta' & 'Vita' outside of the sport is so shocking & tragic that it really stands out but IMO, I just really don't think fans remember them for that.
Herbie Hide - Did alot at heavy for a small bloke with dodgy whiskers. Best known for flailing around on the floor against Bowe and the Klit.
Terry Marsh - Best known for being a rubbish shot (allegedly) and being loved by VD
.....Hide got KO'd with a JAB from Klitschko
As it stands right now, we can add Ricky Hatton to this list.
How about Barry McGuigan dying in the Nevada desert against a Mexican plumber?
