When you hear a fighter say he's great and a legend, you know he's not really.
I never even heard of Hopkins until the Trinidad fight, and after that he put me to sleep in the rest of his fights. So no, he's not a great champion.
I'm not sure a 'legend' loses to Jermain Taylor twice.
Hey i am not Bernard's biggest fan but you got to respect a man who is a two division champion and has 20 deffences at Middle weight common sense. And yea great fighters say they are Great hello ALI was so full of him self it is not funny but man he was a legend so F*** off Nium you are just a hater starting S*** like you did with Joe. Why must you always come up with S*** starters are you really that bored my god you suck and have a sad click.

Lets see here...By time he fought Trinidad he already had 12 defenses of the IBF title just 2 away from the all time MW record...He was IBF champion 6+years......The only real loss on his record was Roy Jones..( the debut is not something that is held against him or any other fighter assuming they have a reddeming career to follow but an expert like you would know that)....He was rated among the top fighters in the world...This before he met Trinidad...By time he lost to Taylor he had 20 defenses was undisputed MW champion not just IBF for 4+years...He had defenses against Joppy, Trinidadad, Allen, Eastmen, Hakkar, Holmes, Echols, Johnson to name a few...The losses to a much younger Taylor were not by landslides either....Then he jumps up 2 divisions at 41 yrs old and becomes the LHW ring champion!!!.....How is this not a legend here?.......
Mr140 hit it on the head perfectly....

I disagree with you slightly on point 5. Hopkins DOESN'T need Calzaghe. Hopkins DOESN'T even need to fight again. Would a match between Calzaghe-Hopkins be any bigger in America than Jones-Hopkins 2? I doubt it. If Jones beat Trinidad people will want that fight. Now, Hopkins chances of beating that impersonater that was once Roy Jones are far better than beating Calzahge.
Start underdog against the 1000 punches a fight "Englishman" ( ;)) or start favourite against the posing and pedestrian-paced old Roy Jones?
Yeah, it was the two-faced-ness of Hopkins that got me in those quotes. I guess I can see your point a little about Jones-Hopkins 2, and it would bring in many casual fans who have drifted away from the sport over recent years but find the two names irresistible, but it would be more of a sideshow fight than serious competitive boxing. It's sort of like Masters tennis, where the legends come together to play each other, but as everyone is slower and older, the skills and fun are what shine through, which in my opinion is what Jones Jr v Trinidad is too.Quote:

gotta agree - joe wound bring a hell of a lot of fans over to new york - its cheaper to get to than vegas for a start. i know for fact i would go if there was a decent ticket allocation (unlike the hatton fight)
What a load of crap HAYE would knock hopkins out. He's a big cruiserweight hopkins is a small light heavyweight.Quote:

People say Roy Jones couldn't hang with a heavyweight, alright it was John Ruiz, but people said that the body mass would be too big despite Roy's talent being bigger.
Roy beat him.
People even said Tarver could beat Hopkins because Hopkins was weighing in at 157 and stuff for Middleweight fights.
I think Hopkins is very skillfull and would fight a very defensive and boring fight.
And I don't think people give Hopkins enough credit for how much strength he has. He is a middleweight super middleweight light heavyweight but he has the strength of a heavyweight to muscle people around, I don't think he'd do it to Haye.
But I haven't seen enough of Haye to know the kind of style he has.
But Hopkins is an all time great and if anyone could find a way to win in that kind of situation then it would be him.
And by the looks of the comments here the only way Haye would win is if he landed the one huge shot.
pooooooooooooooo
what next?
Pacman calling out Klitschko?
Why hasn't VD commented in typical Brit hating style that BH would knock Haye out? ;)
he's probably busy 'smacking a bitch up'Quote:
