I thought Cortez did an OK job in this fight. It's a boxing match, not a wrestling match, Cortez was well within the rules in breaking the clinches when he did.

Cotto has a worse chance than Hatton?Of course he does,I see the logic in that. He's bigger, stronger, more proven at WW than Hatton, hits harder and has fought guys as fast as Floyd although not as skilled overall. Of course he has less chance than Hatton. ??? ??? ??? ;D
Since when does bigger or stronger translate to anything? Faster? Oh yea mental patient Judah ::**. Trust me Gamo Cotto aint fought anyone like Mayweather and you know it. Cotto has fast hands, but not on foot. Closing the distance and getting inside is what was troubling Floyd early. Cotto puts pressure on you but dosent close the gap all that fast to throw Floyds timing and anticipation off. Cotto is an excellent fighter and one of my favorites but people(not saying you) point to the Mosely fight as a barometer on how Cotto would do VS Floyd, remember Shane gets hit a hell of alot more than Mayweather does. Great fight but dont see Cotto winning especially after watching Floyd stand his ground. his pinpoint accuracey would bust Cotto upQuote:

He emphasized it before the fight began gave fair warning, and then did what he said he would do.
I can't hold anything Cortez did in there, sure it was often in the beginning, but Cortez did not want
any holding, we had enough of that in Manfredo / Lacy.
Danny If that's the only thing that you can complain about Floyds performance (that and he needs to fight
Cotto) I'd say that was a pretty good night for Floyd.

What are 2 things can slow Mayweather down?Jab and bodywork.
Who has that combination more thanany other fighter at 147?Cotto.
Has Cotto dealt with lateral movement?yes.
Has he dealt with handspeed and power which is on par or greater than that of Mayweather's?YES.
Would he be Mayweather's toughest test?Yes.
With regards to Hatton's foot speed, yeah it was fast, but foot speed is 1 thing and judging the distance is another. So what if he was fast? What was he doing when he got inside?Smothering his work. I'm making clear,I'm not debating with you about anything,I'm just pointing out, maybe you were over excited with Mayweather's performance, hekc I was too,it was scintilliating, but to say Cotto does not have more of a chance than Hatton is a fallacy, pure and simple.(I'm quite happy with that post :D :D)
You can't take anything away from Floyds win....But I have to agree with Danny about Cortez...Joe did some sh**** Refereeing last night......Floyd played up to it and Cortez allowed it....I am not saying the outcome would have been any different just the Cortez acted like an ass in the fight.....There was favortisim to say the least
What actually made me sick to my stomache was watching Cortez mug it up with Floyd for the camera after the fight with that stupid smile then all of a sudden realize how it looked for the camera...as he looked at the TV camera from the corner of his eye reluctantly then taking Floyds arm off of him....
We all know that Hatton likes the hit and hold but there were times on the ropes Floyd would duck and grab...OK for Floyd but not Ricky?.....and the point was deducted prematurly for sure.....even the announce team agreed on that....I have seen guys do a lot worse in a Cortez fight and get away with it
Yeah Cortez acted like a scared mother last night, and should have let them at least attempt to fight it out of the "hold". Though the outcome would have been the same, I thought that was showing some massive favoritism by Cortez. Where was Cortez the night of Hopkins/Wright? I sure hope Joe is the ref for Bernie's next fight. And that sh#t with posing for pics after the fight? Pretty shady. But again, Floyd would have won regardless, so I don't blame Floyd and he is an ace. Not to mention Kenny Bayless's poor poor ref job in the De Leon fight. He should be fired.Quote:

Floyd took it,made adjustments turning Hattons aggresion into his downfall.Floyd in the ring lastnight was shown to be without a doubt P4P 1 and desrves the utmost respect.Whatever you think of his rants and big mouth he is an undeniable talent and cough...cough.......... Great. No doubt!
He has a great elbow also.
As far as Cortez,I have never really had a problem with him but He was way into the spotlight last night. The yelling, the CONSTANT chatter and talking. He was warning of deducting points in the first round!!This is not the "look what an overbearing and disruptive force the ref can be " show.
I believe he was caught up a little and alot of time the two had free hands or worked themselves out only to have Cortez insist on being seen and jumping in.These guys are Champions and professionals, let them fight.Keep the grasping and holding in check but this is a contact sport, step back and shut your trap
And what the Fark was with the constant slapping and touching both fighters gloves, arms, etc.I understand that clinching (or preceived) is ugly and not in the rules but talk about a micro managing knee jerk reactionary Ref.I just believe a good ref.should not be seen and noticed as much as the fighters. And no I dont think it would have mattered in the outcome,He was all over both guys.Floyd was top notch and a true champion, and Hatton in defeat should get some due respect. Need coffee and aspirin
Agree 100% . I like Hatton as most do but I hate his fighting style. You know they have to find some excuse for Hatton getting KTFO.Quote:

Whatever, Cotto will be just another in a long line of annointed Mayweather slayers who will come up short. Sal you are a bitter person you know it even your youtube clips open and close with deragotory Mayweather comments ::**Quote:
