Aww come on. Hatton would make a good fight against all four of those names mentioned. Just because he gets beat by the p4p top fighter in the world (who pretty much looks untouchable) then that doesn't mean he should go back down where he has an easier ride and more winnable fights. IMO Floyd beats the hell out of the four you mentioned.
As hatton has said its not about that for him. its all about fighting the top competition. If he wants to go down then fair enough. As he said himself he felt the difference in there aginst Floyd BUT in the same breath he can stay where he is and fight in the hottest division in boxing and MAYBE win a few fights (IMO he beats Mosely,Margarito and Paul Williams. Cotto...hhmmm).
Ricky does not belong at wletwerweight and he'd get destroyed by Cotto, Margarito, Williams, Mosely etc.
This isn't me saying Ricky's a bad fighter, he's most definitely not it's just his victories come through outhustling, overpowering and overwhelming his opponents.
In two fights at welter he has in the opinion of the majority lost them both. More importantly even though Collazo and Floyd were considered two of the smallest top welters, not being as big and strong as the others they both managed to outstrength and outhustle Ricky.
There is no shame in losing to Floyd Mayweather but to be beaten up and outstrengthed by him at welter doesn't bode well for a fight against a real welter.
Floyd at welter is fighting well above his natural weight class and wins there because of his superior boxing abillity, painting a very elusive target and not allowing any of these guys to get near him.
Against Hatton he stayed and fought on the inside and beat Hatton at his own game.
If Hatton can be overpowered by Floyd then a Miguel Cotto, Antonio Margarito, Shane Mosely or Paul Williams would absolutely murder him as they are all much physically stonger than Floyd.

Any fighter who is so good that they can casually agree to fights with the likes of Diego Coralles, Jose Castillo, Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton as being fighters who wouldn't have a chance against them must be one hell of a fucking fighter imo.

I think B/B+ is fair to Hatton. He's a top fighter, but not elite. The elite fighters he beat were either old or inactive, or both and he struggled mightily with a solid B fighter in Collazo. Hell, he struggled with a C fighter in Urango.
Compare what a prime Castillo was able to do with a prime PBF in their first fight to what a somewhat blown-up PBF did to a prime Hatton.

I don't see much left for Hatton at 147. He doesn't have the chin to deal with Cotto. He's not going to win a war of attrition with Margarito or Mosley. His best chance is with Williams who may be slim enough for Hatton to push around and maybe hurt but I think he's too sharp and rangy. He can still make some good fights with guys like Witter, Holt and Torres. He's flawed enough that all those fights are competitive. The Holt and Witter fights are pick 'ems IMO.

It's a bit rough calling Hatton a B level fighter, it simply isn't true. He loses to the PFP best boxer in the world and everyone is calling him B class? He is a true 140lb fighter and thats where he belongs. Paulie and Witter await him there and he should take these fights!

At 147 he is B level.
At 140 he is most definately A level
He just doesn't carry the weight and he gives away all of his physical advantages.
At 140 he outworks, outhustles and over powers people. At 147 he can't do any of that because the opponents are naturally bigger and stronger. It's common sense for him to go back to 140 and concentrate on building his legacy in that division.

The top fighters at 147 are way too big and strong for him. Especially Cotto.
140 is the place to be for Hatton.
He need to fight either Witter or Paulie and then fight Baby Bull when he moves up in 2009.

i still don't know why he lunged at floyd with a miserably timed and angled left hook, only to get caught by floyd's short left hook. Ricky threw his left hook so off balanced it made me wonder why he threw it in the first place. He also had his right hand down as he threw it.
