I'll call Floyd great when he does to those what he has done to others.

How about.
Genaro Hernandez
Oscar De La Hoya
Ricky Hatton
Jesus Chavez
Zab Judah
Carlos Hernandez
Angel Manfredy
Diego Corrales
Jose Luis Castillo x2
Are you going to tell me these are not good opponents ?? and just for the record there isn't anyone near Mayweather's skill level in Welterweight division.
Finito, many of those fights were LONG AGO, and as Floyd has climbed the weights, his level of competition has not been as consistent as when he was below 140. And as I said, I don't remember many with Floyd's skills, but the fighters I mentioned (Margarito, Mosley, Williams, and Cotto) certainly have better skills that Baldomir, Gatti, Mitchell, Brusseles, wouldn't you say? And you can't claim no one in the welterweight division has the skill level of Floyd unless you put them in the ring with him to prove it, correct?
Except for Henry Bruseles, his opposition has been goodish, to good. I consider these fighters goodish, Arturo Gatti, DeMarcus Corley, Sharmba Mitchell, Carlos Manuel Baldomir. And these fighters good Zab Judah, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton. His opposition isn't nearly as bad as some people make out.

I agree with your statement. I still think he could do much more right now though. He has fought some good opposition and I will even give him props for fighting Judah, as Judah offered him something different to test him. Speed and Power via Southpaw, and that represented risk even though Judah has proven himself to have limitations.
If Floyd does not get respected 20 years down the road as an all time great, you can blame the multiple title belt bullshit that the current state of boxing is in. This ass backward state of boxing has giving him the opportunity to pick and choose who he fights, as anyone who is decent can go grab a belt and represent an opponent for his belt in every weight class quest.
Even 20 years ago, if you wanted to be considered great, you would fight the best opposition available to prove yourself. He once did that in the lower weight classes, but then became a businessman. It just pisses me off to no end that his incredible talent is getting watered down, and he will end his career great but unproven.
Re: floyd mayweather is the greatest fighter of all time.
Of the current era i certainly can't think of anybody with a more impressive resume than Mayweather.
Mayweather has a similar problem to what Roy Jones had. He makes his opponents look so average, in hindsight it looks like he's only fighting average fighters.
Since i joined this forum about 2 and a half years ago i've seen countless polls about who would beat Mayweather. He's faced pretty much all of them and beaten them....maybe with the exception of Cotto, Tony and maybe Mosley.
He aint ducking any of them, it's just that the guy has fought in 5 different weight classes.....it would be impossible to fight every contender in all 5 weight classes.
I get the feeling Floyd either needs to lose or he needs to in an absolute barnburner for people to appreciate him fully.....and at the minute he's too skilled and too clever to let either of them happen.
There's no point in trying to place him anywhere on the all time p4p lists until he has fully retired.

The barnburner I wanted to see was against Margarito, but Floyd took the easier fight for the same amount money against Baldomir (as Yogi would say, you could look it up). Also, you can't call yourself the best if you are fighting "good" competition as opposed to what people believe to be the best competition. Cotto, Williams, Mosley, and to some extent, Margarito, are "great," not "good."

Exactly.
I did not want to see BaldoMierda vs Mayweather Jr and everywhere you looked or read, THE PEOPLE were asking for Margarito vs Mayweather Jr.
Floyd began with shiet like who is Tony Margarito.!? As if the fans did not know who he was.
Now they are trying to do the same thing with Cotto.

For my part, I don't even entertain that Floyd is the greatest of all time. Not when guys like SRR had over twice the amount of fights as Floyd in a time when SRR was fighting to feed his family, not be on t.v. throwing around stacks of money. Not to mention the severe racial division and hatred of him doing what he did so good. And that goes for alot of fighters back in the day IMO. Floyd is great no doubt, but he isn't the greatest of all time; that's ridiculous to me. Let's see him have over 120 fights 1st.

You tell me mate i can't understand it either, except for a few of his fights like the one with Baldomir etc. Most of his fights are exciting especially his early fights at Superfeatherweight.
