Cant blame him but just not wanting to see him vs. the three.Give me Mayweather Vs. Cotto OR Hatton vs. Cotto. How about Oscar vs.Margarito .........Risk / reward ratio about 50-1 In Promoters eye...oh thats Him!
Come on guys taking on Floyd Mayweather was hardly hand picking a soft opponent. Mayorga had been a big stumbling block to another p4p star in Vernon Forrest and Sturm is still a world champ now.
Oscar has always faced excellent competition. He was in negotiations to fight Ricky BEFORE the Mayweather fight and following Hatton's loss it seems less and less likely he will take that fight.
As for a rematch with Floyd, you may not want to see but come on EVERY fighter would love another chance at Floyd especially if they lost by split decision.
I'm with the majority in that of the three the fight I most want is Cotto, and thankfully with Floyd taking a year out and Hatton moving back down to 140 that will most likely be the one we will get.
Who doesn't want to see Cotto De La Hoya? Certainly imo no true fight fan would grumble about that fight being made.

2. Floyd Mayweather

1. I'm really starting to get tired of ODLH. Lord knows that while Ricky is still a world class fighter, Floyd showed that Ricky is a little out of his depth at 147. Floyd hadn't knocked anybody out since Sharmba Mitchell on a body shot, and he starched Hatton. WHY IN THE F*** does Oscar want that fight? It'd be different if he just comes out and says Hatton-De La Hoya is a big money fight, but he's calling Hatton a "warrior" and saying the fight would be a "clash of the titans." Are you F****** kidding me? Oscar is 5'11" and Hatton is 5'6". Leave Hatton alone and let the young guy rebound and stop trying to tease with big money fights. There's a difference between heavy promotion and just plain deception.
2. THE PUBLIC HONESTLY DOESN'T WANT TO SEE THE WORLD AWAITS 2!!! Stop trying to push the fight on the fans. The first fight really wasn't close at all and the second fight wouldn't be any different unless ODLH came down to 147 because if he did, he'd be so weight drained Floyd would probably stop him on body shots. ODLH tried the first time, he brought Floyd (who's a small welterweight) all the way up to 154, he got the smallest possible ring, he made Floyd wear the Reyes gloves, and he still got beaten. Floyd clearly said that after the Hatton fight that he's physically and mentally tired of boxing and NOW you want to fight him? BTW, the Floyd rematch would probably only do 1.5 Mil and Floyd is gonna demand parity so good luck with that.
3. You're saying that you want to fight at 147, then come down and fight Cotto. Cotto isn't a big welterweight either but I'd say he's more natural at the weight than Mayweather. Cotto's Puerto Rican, you're Mexican, it'd be great TV. Cotto just beat Shane Mosley and while the PPV wasn't that great, with 24/7 and the right promotion, the fight could do around 1 Mil and Cotto would probably only need 30% to be satisfied. Make the fight happen. One question: why isn't this your first choice?
I agree and disagree with you...Here's why:
1) Yes you're right he should NOT fight Hatton. It would be an easy KO for Oscar, we might even see an early KO like the one in round 1 vs Mayorga.
2) I COMPLETELY DISAGREE...the fight was not close at all???? Are you sure you were watching the same fight? Many people, including myself, thought DLH did enough to at least get a DRAW or even a win. One more thing, at 154, 147 ( doesn't matter ) the only way Mayweather would have a chance of KOing Oscar would be if DLH stepped in the ring with a very strong flu.
3) Definitely a GREAT fight!!! I would love to see this one. And to those of you that think Oscar is done, I know he would do better than Mosley did against Cotto. Why? I believe Oscar has better defense than Mosley( you don't really see this when DLH and Mosley fight because they both have their numbers down ) but I don't see this as an easy fight for Cotto or Oscar.
Re: ODLH's top three choices for May 3 according to GBP (are you even surprised?
Oscar Floyd was NOT close at all. Unless you count ineffective agression and punches which miss. I had it 116-112,that's the best I could do. Mayweather easily took at the last few rounds. How anyone can score that fight as a draw, split or worse,in Oscar's favour is RIDICULOUS and needs to be explained rather than just saying"it was a split","it was a close fight" nonsense. If you're going to make a point like that, you should justify it otherwise it looks rather silly. I like Albsur's original post,CC. Oscar the cash cow needs to get lost. And i KNEW a world awaits 2 would be mentioned at some point.
I'd like to add that it was also confirmed in the same interview that Mosley may want another fight and Margarito is a name being mentioned. Put me down for a Tony UD. ;)
