Barrera was told by his corner between rounds not to open up . It was his first fight without his long time trainer and he didnt look good at all . Maybe it was age cuz he was a decade past his best and we could see vs Juarez and Marquez he was on the slide . I think he still did well cuz he went 12 easy rounds and breezed through a fight with a guy whos supposed to be a killer and Barrera was supposed to be washed up .
I dont think Barrera showed himself as being on the slide against Juarez nor Marquez. He held his own IMO and was unlucky in the Marquez fight with that uncalled KD
Against Pac the second time out, I do think that Barrera looked old though. That was a totally different Barrera and Ive never seen him so gun shy.
Nah Barrera must have been in decline in those fights cuz in his prime he would have battered Juarez and Marquez . Here though he chose to outbox em . He didnt have the stamina or desire he once had .
In Barrera's prime he would have battered Juarez, but in no way would've battered Marquez. Marquez is too skilled for that. Maybe a younger Barrera would beat Marquez but that's a maybe.

Well said Caleoh. With regards to Manny,he had an awful 2007 and needs to pick up the pace in 08. He seems to be doing that by taking the JMM fight and the David Diaz fight straight after. With P4P lists becoming so competetive,if he wants to retain his place,he needs to fight tough fights.

I fully agree with this comment, ICB. MAB was on a winning streak and was considered king of the featherweight(?) at that time. It was Pacquaio who took that crown away immediately after MAB gave a lesson to Hamed.
I am of the belief that Pacquaio was not fighting an MAB with an off night. A great fighter like MAB can not be battered easily by any fighter even in an off night. Pacquaio clearly was far superior than MAB during that night and even in their 2nd fight....

Not here kisser ( total validation) ..... Better yet what will be your stance if Juan Diaz mops the floor with Pac? I doubt JMM can,but what if does ?
i said IF he wins against those fighters, then the doubters would finally believe that manny is the real deal. personally i think he will totally dominate jmm and stop him this time around. i also think pac can beat juan diaz but in the event he loses then i guess he just went one weight too heavy than he can handle. BUT if pac beats all of those fighters i mentioned wouldn't you agree it validates the he's just at different level?

I dont think pac man will ever be a "Great", MY OPINION ONLY so dont get all heated about it you pac fans. Although he is a fu+*ing awsome, i dont know why, but when i think about all time greats at that weight he doesnt come to mind. barrera, marrales etc.. (even thought hey lost to him) will always be remembered as greats
