Re: Does anybody think Hopkins can beat Calzaghe?
Can and will it two different things...definatly hopkins has the ability to beat just about anyone, he's been in the game a long time and has figured just about every way to win a fight even when he is overmatched in certian areas, there isn't a fight out there that i'd ever say hopkins can't win. Will he ?? I doubt it.

We'll see what we'll see,but betting against Hopkins is usually a suckers bet
Who couldn't take Tito's power? Hopkins?
Hopkins was a 3-1 underdog against Tito, but he schooled him. And then knocked him out.
As far as could Hopkins beat Joe - I'd love to see it happen, but have to agree that though he has lots of tools, his output isn't high enough that he's probably going to be able to do it. He'd have to start fast (which he doesn't usually) and stay fast, and make Joe miss (which he probably could) most of the time, while clearly outpointing Joe. I can envision it as a possibility, but not as a likelihood.
If he came on strong and won the first two rounds, befuddling Joe a bit, then he might be able to dominate enough of the rest of the fight and actually do it. I like them both, but Hopkins has been my favorite for years, so I am being a little sentimental about it.
What Im saying,is betting against Bernard is a way to lose money
He was a hands down underdog in all of the above
It just didnt go that way

Re: Does anybody think Hopkins can beat Calzaghe?
What is there not to understand?
Monkey was making a fair point..
This Ske cat was talkking sense and bieng respectfull..So what it was stange he was using caps
But you guys was strait up rude and sarcastic to him..
You say how can bernard deal with what joe has but how can joe deal with what bernard has?
Joe is real good and if he can keep distance and shoot shots whether they go over the shoulder or hit the gloves i think he can score points.. But honestly i dont think there is any hope hopkins will let joe keep distance at the times he wants it..
I think Bernard knows hes got to keep far out of range or far to close in joes chest at the times in which he is doing his thing.. And thats an ugly fight..But thats bernard taking the decision
Re: Does anybody think Hopkins can beat Calzaghe?
the only thing really againest hoipkins is his age, at 43 he's not goner be the execustioner anymore, we saw that in his last fight with winky, joes not all that skillful as people say, he's got plenty of stamina and throws over 1000 punchs a fight which will win him the fight. if the hopkins who beat tito was still around then bernard would beat joe but at this stage the old mans to far gone to really be classed fav, but i'd love b-hop to win this, no knock on joe but he's taken the lesser route in his carreer, never taking a trip to the states, never fighting the real big names in the sport, he pulled out twice from fighting glen johnson, he turned down the fight with roy jones, took fghts with bika, manfredo etc etc instead, he fought eubank when simple the best was way pasted his best, plus eubank came out of retirement with 8 days notice and was weight draid, joe still says eubanks was his touighest fight, that sadly is a reflection on how joes gone about his regeign, fighting decent euro boxer, eubank was superb but a shadow of his former self so 10 years later he shouldn't be the toughest fight joes still had
i just dont feel joes done anything to deserve having hopkins name in his win record, his tougest fight to date is a shot 8 day notce eubank, and his biggest win could be againes a 43 year old semi retired hopkins, inbetween his foght alot of guys we dont remember, this should not have been the case, therefore he'll always be discredited in years to come, his unbeaten record will only be for him to be proud of

Not really, and hes certainly not as good tactically as Hopkins
Re: Does anybody think Hopkins can beat Calzaghe?
previously had respect for hopkins until he revealed his suppressed feelings of racism.don't tell me shit about selling the fight that shouldn't be said under any circumstances.your only as good as your last fight, hopkins punched, grabbed and held his way to an ugly victory over winky wright who despite being a career long light middleweight and against all expectations was the aggressor in the fight.calzaghe beat a dangerous young undefeated super middleweight.calzaghe throws more punches in a single round than hopkins does in an entire fight.don't get me wrong hopkins is well capable of beating calzaghe but he'll have to put another wwe like performance to do it and it won't make for pretty viewing although "malcolm x" will stand at press conferences talking trash and promising fireworks.my money is on a points win for calzaghe.

Are you kidding me? Not as good tactically? If being dirty is a tactic, then Bhop is in a league of his own but otherwise, there is no comparison as far as tactical skill goes. I mean that in Joes favor.
Joe is a supreme athlete with great speed, skill, chin and determination. You saw against Kesler his fighting spirit as well when he got hit clean and came right back at him.
I'm not even a huge fan of Joe but I think he is the only fighter that I can't see anyone in around his weight beating him. Too bad we discovered him so late in America. Otherwise, he would have been p4p #1 and certainly a consideration for my favorite fighter.
He has really impressed me and I have really grown to like the guy as a fighter.

Oh stop it with the dirty crap, its old,its tired and it hasnt been true for years. His last two fights that went really dirty were Echols(who was dirtier by far) and Holmes(though I cant see how you can blaim Hopkins for being dirty when Holmes got nipple rash from his trunks)

Stop acting foolish Calzaghe has beaten every single opponent that needed beating at Super Middleweight, Calzaghe is much more fresher than Hopkins, he is quicker, has more work rate, more stamina, need i go on ?? if you can't see that then is something badly wrong.
Calzaghe used to be a hard puncher early in his career, until last few years when he had bad hand injuries.
