That depends on how the fight goes, I think. Oscar has what, 5 losses? But the only time he's been beaten up convincingly was when Hopkins knocked him out - and even that fight was close up until the knockout. If Floyd could KO or win a clear UD against Oscar it would mean a lot, IMO.
Also, agree with the poster who said that 24/7 III could be the best part of the fight.

See, my view is that i don't care if they have a rematch, i just hate the timing.. Floyd just beat hatton and I really want him to fight Cotto to shut up all the people who keep saying Cotto will beat him.. So it sucks that not only is he fighting Oscar instead, it's happening in SEPTEMBER.. at least if it was in May then Floyd may fight again before the end of the year, like last year, but obviously Floyd isn't going to fight anyone before this fight if it gets signed, meaning this will be Floyd's only fight this year.

Hatton will never go back to Welterweight so i doubt that will happen.
;) YEA i agree what you are saying... 8)

:D perhaps if he have his proud sensitive maybe he could do it by big purse or unless if want an another beating. ;D
Re: Forget about Mayweather-Cotto in 2008...
I thought Mayweather said he was going to retire after the last fight. Maybe he was going to retire if he couldn't fight Oscar again.

I'm shocked it took you this long to post on this. You're showing ring rust. ;)
Re: Forget about Mayweather-Cotto in 2008...
The funny thing is people get so upset about Mayweather fighting Oscar again.Think about it I made all this money fighting De La Hoya and rematch comes up.Hmmm let me think.Defining fight of my career and silencing all critics or MONEY.S**T you know what I'm going for.
Re: Forget about Mayweather-Cotto in 2008...
Cotto is just like Floyd. Waiting for the big money and at all cost avoid Paul Williams. No different.

Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Oscar De La Hoya, who shattered box office records when they met last spring, are close to finishing a deal for a rematch, Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer told ESPN.com Wednesday.
"We are still discussing things but we have almost finalized it," said Schaefer, who heads De La Hoya's promotional company. "I think an announcement will be forthcoming."
Schaefer said the fight would be Sept. 13 or Sept. 20 on HBO pay-per-view.
Not only are these guys fighting again, but they're going to fight so late in the year that it will be the only fight in 2008 for both of them.
Wonder if it's gonna be at Dodger Stadium?

Well SweetPea I will say this.
It's bad news in the sense that we're gonna have to wait until 2009 BUUUUUUUT I'm happy cause the more the time passes the better the chances are for Cotto to beat PBF, IMO. People here say PBF can only beat himself, I agree with that.
But IMO the biggest "IT" factor that's against PBF is "TIME" the more the months go by and the less fighting hes doing will only hurt him in the long run.
So in retrospect it really isn't all that bad for me as I was hoping they wouldn't fight 'til 2009 cause that's when Cottos chances are better. Well better then fighting him this year since hes still fresh off the Hatton win.
:)
You'd sooner see Cotto win against a faded fighter than watch two guys in their pomp go at it?
Bit surprising.
