Re: Who hits Harder ??? Hopkins or Calzaghe
Punch for Punch, I would say Hopkins has more oomff to them. Calzaghe makes up for it by throwing and landing so much more.
You don't need to be a big puncher to f*ck someone up. The human body is frail in the big scheme of things.

Now factor in who exactly Hopkins has stopped - which EVERYONE knows is welterweights and substandard middleweight bums. Would Calzaghe have NOT stopped ALL of Hopkins stoppable oppostion? Of course he would. That's obvious.
There you go, that's unquestionable evidence.
Calzaghe DEFINETLY hits harder. Fact.
Fantastic post Fenster.
You backed everything up with Facts. I'm sold !
Anyone who still thinks Hopkins hits harder than Joe will have to tune in when they meet to be proved wrong .

Very hard to argue with that logic.

Lol, you serious? Cause he wasn't....
Re: Who hits Harder ??? Hopkins or Calzaghe
nither has ever really been a big one punch k.o hitter......... in there earlier days they both were considered powerfull, but once they went up to title level they didnt have as much effect in the k.o world. hopkins no longer lays it on the line, he chooses to save his stamina and joes hand injury's stop him from really letting it go
but overall i'd say hopkins was slightly the harder hitter

Just before his fight with Calzaghe he was floored 3 times by light hitting Markus Beyer.
Hope this helps.

"I came out of the corner for round one smiling," remembers Eubank.
"I was moving around and sizing up the terrain, when 'Boom!' Calzaghe hit me with a huge shot that literally came out of nowhere and knocked me down.
"A first-round knock-down had never happened to me in my entire career.
"As I picked myself up from the canvas and brushed myself down, I thought to myself: 'You've got your work cut out tonight, guy."
;)
That just proves my point "It came out of nowhere" basically meaning he wasn't expecting it and it caught him by surprise. Eubank was caught on the back foot and he was caught cold because it was in the first 20 seconds of the fight. It was a good shot but it was nothing more than a jolting shot. Eubank laughed when he got up it was just the speed of the shot that shocked Eubank, because if i remember right Eubank charged at Calzaghe and they clinched for a second, then Calzaghe launched a left hand right out of the clinch while Eubank was moving backwards so Eubank's balance was not good at the time.
Eubank was also floored by Steve Collins and Collins was not a big puncher either you don't have to be a big puncher if you catch someone by surprise and on the back foot or etc you can even floor iron chinned fighters like Eubank.
Are you taking the piss? That describes 99.9% of knockdowns
anyway.. first it was the same as Hatton-Collazo (ridiculous), now you want to compare it to Collins-Eubank?
Collins barely, if at all, touched him.
It was clear Eubank toppled back off balance from a glancing (at best) bodyshot that wouldn't have floored a granny holding a walking frame.
Now, this highlights how wrong you are about Calzaghe's knockdown of Eubank. When Eubank gets up from Collins "knockdown" what does he do? Shocked at seeing the ref start counting he starts shouting "SLIP!" "SLIP!" "SLIP!" as opposed to describing Calzaghe's knockdown as "BOOM!" "HE HIT ME WITH A HUGE SHOT" "HE KNOCKED ME DOWN"
;)

Did i say that describes 99.9 percent of knockdowns ?? tell me where i mentioned that in any of my posts ?? im saying that Eubank was caught on the back foot which is a fact, it caught him by surprise which is a fact. He was caught very early in the fight like the first 20 seconds so he was caught cold which is a fact. Fenster do you read any of anyone's posts ?? it seems like you just highlight over some posts and don't take any notice of most of it. Tell me where i compared Eubank vs Collins to Eubank vs Calzaghe ?? What i was saying if you actually read my post properly was that even fighters who haven't got a big punch can knockdown iron chinned fighters if that iron chinned fighter is off balance or etc. Hatton vs Collazo and Calzaghe vs Eubank are very similar because both Collazo and Eubank were on the back foot at the time so there balance was not good, and they were both caught in the first 20 seconds of the fight so they were caught cold. They were both caught with good shots but it was nothing more than a jolting shot. Eubank laughed when he got up, plus he was up immediately it just shocked him thats it.
Anyway i don't really care that fight happened like 11 years ago im not going to keep debating over if Calzaghe was or was not big puncher than Hopkins, all that matters is who wins on April 19th.
Re: Who hits Harder ??? Hopkins or Calzaghe
Hmm.. You seem to be getting a little befuddled Icey.
I proved Calzaghe is the harder hitter. It's a fact. Fact.
OK we'll leave it at that
;)
Re: Who hits Harder ??? Hopkins or Calzaghe
At this stage of their career neither are particularly devastating.

I think that about sums it up its pretty obvious either man isn't getting stopped it will come down to who uses the best tactics not about power. Will Hopkins be able to make it his kind of fight on the inside ?? using rough house tactics to slow Calzaghe's work rate and clinching to off set his rhythm, plus using right hand to good effect which is Calzaghe's biggest weakness ?? or will Calzaghe stay on the outside using his Southpaw jab to good effect, while using good punching angles to confuse Hopkins, plus outwork the older man to earn a decision ??
Re: Who hits Harder ??? Hopkins or Calzaghe
hopkins for me by a small margin but a lot of calzaghes shots are to set up the big ones. his power is underrated but i think hopkins hits slightly harder with a single shot;)
