Take this fight and throw it in any era.
No matter when, where or why it happens this will make a classic.

Back to ya JT...;D...I have boo-koo respect for Cotto but Margarito gets nothing but stronger down the stretch.I can envision Cotto targeting that body big time and giving Tony some problems with that jab.Ultimately I feel Margarito can come 'under' Cotto with mass rangy angels ,get him on his heels and produce some lumps/cuts and mutual hurt to the body.Improved body puncher himself.Great match up...can not wait.
Again I still point to Cotto backing up when he couldnt assurt himself over Mosely and break his will.. If Cotto goes backwards against Margarito he'll get slaughtered cause there is no way in hell he breaks that tough bastard Margarito down
Hmm be interesting if Cotto's hitting him with everything and he's still there. It freaked Cintron out big time. Cotto is stronger mentally but he didn't look comfortbale against Shane late on.......so this will be interesting.
Re: It's Official!! Cotto finally signs the contract! "The Battle" is on!
I think that Cotto will going to start in the first 5 or 6 round with counter punch and combination with double Jabs and exhaust Margarito in working to the body for keep him in Distance after that Cotto will outbox with his great combinations and speed for get the Victory by TKO or get until the limit by UD..................;D

Cotto can box going backwards didn't you see his fight vs Lovemore Ndou ?? he boxed on the back foot the entire night against Ndou. He didn't need to box on the back foot against Mosley because he was landing solid jabs and fighting on the back foot would of took away the snap and the power of the jab plus Mosley never really hurt Cotto until later rounds.
And lets remember how wide Margarito's punches are, so i think in exchanges Cotto's much shorter punches especially the hooks, would win exchanges for him and pile up the points. One thing that is worrying is that Margarito has very good uppercut which is Cotto's biggest flaw IMO.
But put it this away if Cotto uses his superior boxing skills he should win, although he should keep off the ropes as much as possible, because Magarito does some of his best work when his opponent is on the ropes, and he has stopped several opponents in that position. If its a brawl i expect Margarito to win just because he is so big for a Welterweight, and although he may not be 1 hit KO type of fighter, he is physically very strong and stronger than Cotto IMO.

I agree ICB when you talk about Cotto vs Nduo fight and what happened to Nduo after the 6th rounds ? , he looked exhaust and Cotto kept his footwork , and backwards with his Jabs , that is what i always have thought that Cotto will going to do , a similar strategy that he made with Nduo , and i want to add that Nduo in that fight almost tested the canvas , he has more strongest Legs than Margarito , now we will going to see if he has a good Legs for stay up............
That was good point of view ICB , that fight with Nduo could give a some Vision of how could be this fight Cotto vs Margaro IMO............;D

You're going to be answered with a dozen posters saying "He didn't punch enough in the Williams fight."
But in truth he started very slowly and he was really raising the temperature late in the fight.

And that was actually a mistake he should of started fast right from the opening bell, but i think that also had something to do with Williams work rate, Margarito never had anyone out punch him before.

Just personal, but I find when fighting a taller fighter, my work rate drops, until I get comfortable and deal with all counters he can throw.
I feel Margarito similarly was solving Williams early and the volume being poured upon him prevented him from any early success.

He's probably learned from his mistake hopefully. I can't see Cotto hurting Tony upstairs, but maybe to the body. I see Cotto trying to get some rounds in tha bag by boxing at range but it should take off some time. Awsome fight, makes de la Hoya and Floyd look like women.
Re: It's Official!! Cotto finally signs the contract! "The Battle" is on!
I want to see this fight, badly.
We only have basic cable (Shaw). Any of you Canadians know if it is possible to somehow order it to watch that way, without having the digital cable box and all that jazz? I've never ordered a fight to watch or even tried.
