If I'm not mistaken Zarate vs. Zamora is the highest at world class level.
Zarate had 45 wins 44 kos while Zamora had 29 wins 29 kos.
When I say world class level I mean 2 of the highest rate fighters in their div. and for titles. Now if you go check your records and or BoxRec you'll find that the fight itself was NOT for any titles. But please don't be fooled by that. Zarate was the reigning WBC champ and Zamora was the reigning WBA champ it just so happens that the STUPID belt org. decided not to acknowledge the fight. But in reality once Zarate beat Zamora, Zarate became the Undisputed Bantam champ. It was a great battle fought valiently by both.

At 1st glance that can be true but Zarate fought world rated fighters like Martinez, Ferrair and Davila.

Good call here, and what a great 1 rounder they gave us. Meza pulled off the upset special on that night and gave it his all. Garza was suppose to be the next big thing and BAM! Meza put that to rest.
I also would like to speak on something about Gomez. I respect the guy for the skills he had and because of the pride he had. He always fought to the end like a true warrior BUT I gotta admit and say something.
Gomez was a fighter who used to let his emotions get the best of him. Sometimes he was uncontrolable, he didnt like people telling him what to do not even his own people who managed his career. Not sure how many people know this but Gomez actually flew out WITHOUT his management and without his team when he signed on to fight vs. "Chava" Sanchez. In other words he did it behind their back.
One of the things that bothers me most about Gomez is how he got away with hitting opponents while they were down. You can see this in several fights and I can tell you this because I've studied the fights.
He hits the following fighters while they were down: Sakad, Zarate, Pintor and there's one more who's name I can't think of now but I will post it as soon as I find it cause I have it written down somewhere and this last one that I can't think of even after the fight had already been stopped Gomez had to be restrained by the ref. and his corner cause he wanted to continue hitting the guy while he was down.

i know exactly what you mean Mick, i've studied Gomez's fights and believe it or not i was actually thinking the same thing. i guess someone had to say it. it might as well be you. (cus it won't be me). all joking aside that does make me mad when i see that in a fighter. especially someone that will be remembered like Gomez will. kinda sad.

I never knew Zamora had that high of KO ratio i do know when he fought Zarate it was a big showdown because they were both undefeated at that time and it was really hyped i didn't know if it was for title or not, i have seen the fight but the commentary isn't in English. But it was a great battle it was like Hagler vs Hearns for 4 rounds, and that guy from the crowd running in the ring with his underpants then he got thrown out of the ring like he was in the Royal Rumble was hilarious.
As for Wilfredo Gomez i totally know what you mean about his emotions getting best of him, i recently see Zarate vs Gomez he hit Zarate after the bell and hit him few times while he was down on the canvas, he was lucky not to get DQ. It actually looked like he wanted to kill Zarate he was so fired up.

As we saw, Hide was a typical puncher who really couldn't take it when he stepped up in class of opposition though.
