Hagler is nice, Haye is a top man got drunk with him and Adam Booth at China Whites we sat for hours talking about P4P abd dream fights.
Top man is David Haye.
To be honest pretty much all the guys I have ever met have been top notch in the way they treated me....Though I will say it seems to me that ex-fighters who had limited success seem to be the biggest assholes...EG-Elija Tillery (the guy that kicked Bowe in the shin like a girl) was the biggest asshole I met...He was at a gym one day and I walk in..somehow he hears I am from the press and he assumes I was there to ask him for an interview:rolleyes:...he gets arrogant and tells me...."You need to make a F***** appointment you can't just roll in here expecting shit like that"....
Sooo I walk past him to see Verno Phillips and talk with him (Verno used to train by me and I have known him for years).....Then explained to Tillery I had just bought the gym.....
The shithead had the nerve to ask me if I would put up a picture from one of his fights in the gym.....
Oliver McCall I thought was going to be a jerk as well...he insisted I call him "Mr McAll" when I spoke with him.....I ignored it and after the 5th time he loosened up and was a nice guy.....
To his defense though it was when he was trying to comeback and the press was blasting him left and right so he was on the defensive.....
I'm just gonna put all the ones I can think of...
Micky Ward: Top guy!
Peter Manfredo Jr: Really nice
Vinny Paz: A bit full of himself but nice enough...
Joey Spina: ASSHOLE!
Sergio Mora: Nice guy
Cristobal Cruz: Didn't speak engish but let me take pics with him and seemed happy to do so.
Steve Forbes: Top Guy!
Paul Smith: Very nice dude.
Sam Soliman: Funny as Hell!
David Banks: Another quite full of himself but nice enough...
Grady Brewer: Very Nice Guy
Gary Balletto: Reall Nice and down to earth...
Jason Estrada: Very cool guy to talk to...
Brian Vera: Awesome guy!
Matt Remillard: Very down to earth!
John Ruiz: Soft spoken and very very nice
Jamie Clampitt: Top Lady!
Missy Fiorentino: Hilarious... funny girl!
Jose Gonzalez: My interpreter for Crisobal Cruz, LOL... Top Guy!
Jose Sanchez: Nice guy.
Sugar Ray Leonard: OK... a bit hurried but understandable... seemed nice, though.
Others Boxing related but not fighters:
Lou Dibella: Very nice guy!
Steve Smoger: The Smogs is great!
Teddy Atlas: Very accomodating. Nice guy.
Pepe Correa: Great Guy!

Met Cotto in Caguas last Dec while visiting my family at his bar.
Ray Mancini is and Harry Arroyo are regulars in the YO.
I have to say Mike Tyson when he came over to London for the Julius Francis fight a 6 or 7 years ago. I think you get a better judge of boxer away from cameras and the lenses. I can remember in London, some kid asked Tyson for an autograph, the kid could not find pen, so the kid said to Tyson "Can I just run the shop and get a pen" like in that innocent way kids do (lol)
Tyson just waited there, with all his entourage saying 'Cmon Mike leave him, lets's go". I mean he had stuff to do, I wouldn't mind but the kid was a few minutes too, so it wasn't an in and out job, but Tyson just waited there until the kid came back with notepad and not only did Tyson give him an autograph, he also gave him a ticket to the fight.
Kostya Tszyu - very nice bloke.
Danny Green - also, very good guy. Interviewed him for Saddos over the phone but them bumped into him in a tattoo shop where my girlfriend was getting some work done. Couldn't have been nicer, very passionate and knowledgable about the sport. We chatted away about Chris John and his sparring with James Toney, we spoke for about 10 minutes.
Anthony Mundine - covered a weigh in of his for the site also and, while the cameras were on he was a total dickhead - doing the whole 'I'm the greatest' routine and dissing everyone. Then, when all the media were gone and it was only sad case boxing tragics (like me:D) around, he just became a regular , nice guy. Talking to kids, giving autographs and we spoke about boxing a bit - seemed like a decent fella who acts up for publicity. Must work too, given the money he can pull in for fighting taxi drivers on a wednesday night in Sydney...
Gairy St Clair - Another nice guy, we watched the Judah/Mayweather fight together and I was surprised by how well Judah started. Gairy just told me 'wait, he'll fold, he'll fold'. Sure enough, a few rounds later Mayweahter was in complete control and Gairy just tapped the side of his head and said something like 'you see? he's scared to win'. Apparently they used to spar together when Gairy was in Brooklyn and Judah had psychological problems back then too.
Haven't met any boxers I haven't like really.
I live in the same city as Jermain Taylor (Little Rock, AR), and although i've never met him, he seems to be a very stand up guy- everybody here loves him. He does a lot for the community and has been known to sign autographs for hours at a time. I know this is the "disliked" board, but this guy is so much the opposite of being disliked, I thought it was worth mentioning.
Jermaine comes acrossed as personable on camera too. One fighter i always admired on camera is floyd patterson. He seemed like such a gentleman. It's hard not to like a guy like that.
Librado Andrade is a very nice guy.
I second that. He was at our gym training for a while leading up to and after The Contender. Really, really nice guy.
Sakio Bika: After the end of The Contender, he came and trained with Pepe. Really cool, down to earth.
Paul Williams: Super cool. Used to come watch our JOs spar and hung out a few times at our gym.
Williams Joppy: Met him at our gym training for last fight. Cool guy, pretty quiet and just came to work.
Shamba Mitchell: Met him a few times at local club shows. Approachable and very easy to talk to.
Andrew Council & Darryl Tyson: I put these two together because they are now coaches at two different DC gyms. Both cool guys. They do great work with our young boxers.
Anthony & Lamont Peterson: staples at local DC shows when in town. You wouldn't even know they have been on TV because they are both good guys.
Sugar Ray Seales: Met him at the Ringside Tournament this year. He had his '76 Gold Medal with him! Really nice guy.
Rayonta Whitfield: Met him down at his gym in Augusta. Nice guy. They (Augusta Boxing Club) opened their gym up for free workouts for the entire Silver Gloves Regionals for all visiting boxers. A lot of other gyms would never do that. Great club, great people down there.
Buster Douglas: Met him at the first annual Arnold Festival Boxing Tournament. Great guy. Talked it up with anyone and everyone. Signed everything.
Joe Frazier: Met him also at the same even as Douglas. Took photos with everyone and did as much meet and great as he was able to. Good guy.
