That being said, if this fight happens you will never see Williams at WW again. I'm surprised he's leapfrogging JMW but there aren't any big names there he could get a match with (Oscar probably wants no part) but he was probably going to wind up a MW at some point in his career. If you look at their stats they match up pretty closely. Kelly is 1.5 inches taller, but Paul's arms are 7 inches longer. Williams only has one more fight, so experience-wise they are the same. I think Kelly wins in the long run simply because his chin is more tested. Paul hasn't been tested the same. Who knows, maybe Williams has an even sturdier chin and his power will carry up 2 divisions. He may be able to put the finishing touch on that Jermain Taylor couldn't.
was thinking the same thing. problem is if, or most of you would say after pavlik bust up williams he wouldn't get much credit.
i'd watch this, and people don't tell me you won't.

I love Arum. He is a very smart guy.
I would rather him fight Winky also. Not sure what happened there. If Paul came down in price I'm sure Winky would also.
I agree. The odd thing is that I think Pavlik would have an excellent chance to taking Winky apart and maybe even stopping him. I'm a huge Winky fan, but his age, combined with his recent lack of movement and the weight fluctuations seem to indicate that he is there for the taking against a very active power-puncher like Pavlik.
I'm a huge Winky fan and I'd definitely be cheering for him vs. Pavlik, but it's an uphill struggle for Winky IMO. I imagine the accolades would pour in if Pavlik stopped Winky or beat him convincingly.
Re: Arum Says Pavlik Vs Paul Williams "Seems" Like Done Deal For 9/27
What is really bugging me is Arum seems to be changing the opponent every damn week. He knows Pavlik is not PPV material so I have a feeling he is trying to nickel and dime his opponents so he does not lose his ass financially. He has to look at Pavlik as long term. He just might have to lose some money fighting Winky, to improve Pavlik's exposure to make Pavlik more marketable down the road.

I wouldn't want to jeopardize the Abraham match at this point - Winky's too dangerous. If Pavlik gets past Abraham - which I don't think is a given - then Winky should be the next guy in line.
I'm not crazy about the Williams matchup, either, but at least Pavlik's staying busy til the next big fight.

Because I'm a huge boxing fan I'd watch Klitschko fight a one-armed midget, but that doesn't mean the outcome wouldn't be a foregone conclusion.

C'mon, admit it - you've seen at least one Valuev fight, right?

I was being sarcastic, I though it was pretty obvious. However, I sat through Briggs - Lyakhovich, so it should be apparent that I will watch anything boxing related.

Man that is rough. I was so excited for SL and he put this bullshit out there. I could not believe he was so stupid in the 12 round.

I was hypnotized by boredom by the time the twelfth came around, so I don't really remember how the KO happened. I remember Sergei getting knocked clean out of the ring, I think.
Re: Arum Says Pavlik Vs Paul Williams "Seems" Like Done Deal For 9/27
What about Sturm ;D
I don't know how it will go, but he will look look like a pretty big middle fight night, won't look like a mismatch at least. This may be surprisingly competitive, we'll see.

I think if there were a cure for asthma Shannon would be one of the most dangerous guys in the division. He relies solely on power because his lungs shrink up whenever he gets too active. The guy's a natural athlete; if he had legs and strength he'd really be something.

(Honestly i am laughing my head off)
Unlike your boy Calfage, Pavlik fights who ever challenges him. Willams did. He said on hbo he wanted Calzaghe next but Calzaghe took the easier fight with Jones Jr.
Re: Arum Says Pavlik Vs Paul Williams "Seems" Like Done Deal For 9/27
I say as well take the money lose and fight Wright. He is a lefty as like Calzaghe (if he ever grew some balls to step in the ring with Pavlik) and this would prep him for Calzaghe. I do belive Williams at 6'2" has no reason to be at 147. He needs to bulk it up and go up to 154-160. He is fast. He throws allot of punches but I honestly dont see him going longer than 3-6 rounds. Pavlik touches that chin and Williams is not busy and on the defensive. Not to mention he is a southpaw.
