I find that somewhat hard to fathom. I agree that he can flurry with speed, but on the other hand I dont think he throws a single punch slowly. Calzaghe has very good handspeed overall.
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Calzaghe's combo's may be slaps, but they are thrown with amazing speed.
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Roy Jones still fast.
Amir Khan also has fast hands and does David Haye.

it's easier to throw faster when there's nothing on them.

Its a myth that Calzaghe has no power. He beat Lacy up stopped Manfredo hurt Kessler. The only fight in which he looked inefectual was against Hopkins.

Trivia question: How many times did Calzaghe have to hit Lacy to knock him down?
Not bagging Calzaghe, but he hasn't had power in years. The stoppage against Manfredo was beyond early, it was a horrible stoppage, no way he could have won, but no way can you say Manfredo was hurt. Kessler never looked in trouble, swollen yeah, but he never looked wobbly or anything.
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Jorge Linares should be on that list IMO; he's got pretty fast hands to me.

His power isnt great but its enough to bust you up and make you think twice. Kessler was hurt badly to the body in the 8th he admitted it after the fight.

OK they are slow in comparison to the rest of these guys, He has fast hands, but they weren't that much faster then Kessler's or Hopkins's hands, he just has great timing, and he is really relaxed when he throws punches so he can throw combinatios really quick.
People, stop saying he just slaps, he doesn't. He throws with poor technique, but he is still hitting hard enough to get Kessler, Lacy, and most of his opponents attention. ALso when he was young he had relatively quick hands, and he hit hard back in his day.
The thing is he has never had the top speed in the sport, guys like Mayweather, Mosley, Taylor, etc are a level above him, and guys like Gamboa, Berto, RJJ are two levels above him. I have him on the same level as Whitaker and Oscar De La HOya, which is quite fast, but not the fastest.
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
I voted for Manny because his speed also brings devastation.
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Common people, you don't need a ph.d in physics to realize Manny doesn't punch as fast as Berto. He has quick hands, but Judah, Berto, and Gamboa all have faster hands then him
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
Speed is nothing without power
Re: Fastest Hands in boxing
yeah because Berto has no power...
also
Take a look at Mayweather, he has decent power, but not at the higher weights, and he did fine. Michael Nunn had an excellent career with no power.
And this thread is saying what is the best power-speed combination, it is asking for hte fastest hands.
