Re: British v. American Rivalry
I will always support the fighter who represents my country of birth and where i live, course i will.
How it should be...are the tens of thousands that follow Hatton to vegas wrong?...NO they do it for a reason (PROPER fans)
Strange that we Never see a US army of fans coming to the UK on big fights and i can't remeber any ever doing so...NONE at Lacy v Joe!
It's not a dig at anyone/country but because we are an island race and a small one at that that we feel more "connected" to our fighters hense the greater support of our boys over yours:)
It's that simple.;)

I don't make out i know everything nor do i make out im always right, you basically implyed i was traitor in the last thread. I let it go and just debated back, then you took it a step further and forced me to defend myself. Then when you couldn't debate back, you took the easy way out and started acting like a child.
The traitor post was blatantly a joke, but if the shoe fits ;) I'll debate with you anytime about Boxing or anything else you fancy ;)
At end it was but not before it wasn't i get pissed of, people keep calling me a traitor. Yotisdan also did this and questioned my family values ETC. I just think boxing is about individual tastes, i never said you was wrong you have your opinion i have mine.
But i didn't think you went about the right way yesterday at all, i got nothing against you we normally get on fine. And i don't mind joking about with you, but come on BIG H until the end you were serious with your comments.
Re: British v. American Rivalry
I think the size of the two countries does make a difference but I also think Derrick Gainer makes a difference, Zahir Raheem, John Ruiz, Rocky Juarez, etc. I'd rather be punched in the testicles and shot in the face than root for any of them.
Well technically Ruiz is not ours.
Re: British v. American Rivalry
when i fighter boxes he represents his nation...
If you choose not to support a boxer who is representing ur nation thats call!
Simple as that

Re: British v. American Rivalry
You guys have to take into consideration there's only ever a small pool of "world class" Brit fighters compared with America.
For example - Tim Bradley was a no-one in boxing, meant/means NOTHING to the majority of American fans, but out of the blue takes the world title of Junior Witter, who was the 3rd or 4th BEST rated fighter in Britain.
I don't think Froch is much cop. But barring Calzaghe i'd cheer for him against everyone else on the world scene.
Re: British v. American Rivalry
I am irish so lets just say we dont have too many top pros but i would always support one of my own if they were fighting i will support calzage because he is are neighbour in wales this is not a dig at anyones country.
I do judge boxers on there ability for example i would say i believe roy jones when he was younger is a superior fighter to calzage but i would rather calzage wins.
I do not support boxers soley based on there ability though look at mayweather loads of talent and he is a mouth look a junior whitter good fighter but i would never support him.http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...cons/icon8.gif
Re: British v. American Rivalry
I just like to always see two men go to war in the ring!Im not too bothered on where they from!I just want to see a really good fight and see both fighters "Whoever" they are give it they all and show the fans and the world they true grit and talent!!!It's how all battles should be fought and settled "Fist to chin";)After all thats all you were given when you were brought into this crule world!
Thats the way i see it!Im old school for my age,but i like it that way!
Re: British v. American Rivalry
Yeh - I knew Hatton wouldn't beat Mayweather, but I supported him 100% and wanted him to win. I had JC v Lacy and Kessler as 50/50 fights before they started, but always supported JC. You can think a fighter is going to lose and appreciate that he isn't as good as his opponent, but I could just never WANT a British fighter to lose

When our boxers put on that Vest in the Olympic games did you want some of the more exciting and superior foreign fighters they fought to win ?
Re: British v. American Rivalry
Talking about ability, one of my favourite Welsh fighters was Steve Robinson. Now he had limited ability but a great heart, I started to follow him just because he was Welsh but the reason I continued to watch him was for the fighter he bacame... then he lost to that tit. :lickish:
Re: British v. American Rivalry
What about Audley?
I aint cheering that cunt on against ANYONE. Fact.

Lol - I really liked Steve Robinson, very underrated fighter imo. I think if his career had've been handed differently, i.e not drawn into fights on 12 hours notice etc, he could've been a lot more successful. But hey he was world Champion, so he didn't do bad
