Like Barrera said after the fight, it should have been stopped when the cut happened as it was clear he wouldn't complete the fight. The fact that it was Barrera a tough old proven legend probably worked against him in the end as the ref and ringside doctor probably gave him more leniency than they would for an ordinary fighter.

I do think Khan would have slowed down and that would have provided more opportunities for Barrera. But it's a crazy notion to think of that fight going into the 9th or the 12th round. It's mentalism of the highest order.

Actually, I kind of watched the fight in a daze after that clash of heads. My heart sank, it was obviously a nightmare scenario. Couldn't be any worse. Of course I willed Marco on and there were glimpses of hope. But no, it wasn't fun to watch.Quote:
