Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
For the first time since I can remember.... I'll actually be looking forward to watching a heavyweight fight.
:) :)

I think Haye might surprise people with his chin. I truly believe his trouble at Cruiser was draining himself to make weight and I believe a comfortable weight for him to be at is around 220 lbs. When he was stopped by Thompson (as a child) he weighed 190lbs so 30lbs below his comfort zone must have drained a lot of energy from Haye.
I'm not trying to say the has a chin or recovery powers of a Holyfield or Ali but he may well shock a few of you with what he can take. Then again he has never faced anyone with anything like Wlads power and if he does get caught with too many clean shots he will go, but that said Wlad is in the same boat IMO, if he gets caught by some of Haye's big bombs it will be lights out for him too and judging by the fact that Haye is way quicker and far less robotic than Wlad I see him connecting with some.
I definitley think Haye has the tools to beat Wlad and vice versa, and that is what makes this an interesting fight for me. As for Hayes trash talking, we all know it's to sell the fight and they will be big mates after the fight!
I hope you're right, I really will be rooting for Haye because there needs to be a change in the Heavyweight Division and Haye is exciting and I agree with you, he does have the tools. He is powerful, quick and he might slip a couple of jabs by Wlad and get inside and start hammering Wlad. Who knows, but at least it will be the best Heavyweight fight in a long long time.
Even if it is not all it cracks up to be, at least it will strike some much needed interest into the division!
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
I actually wouldn't mind seeing HBO do a 24/7 series for this fight. It might spark a little interest from a the casual fan to the HW division.

This will be huge in the UK and will be back page news all week before the fight, but even i dont think its worthy of a 24/7 series stateside.
24/7 should be reserved for special moments in the sport when 2 genuinely great fighters come together and clash. Wlad and Haye havent blown anyone away to date and i hardly think many of the heavyweight sceptics around now will be convinced into buying this!!
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
When asked about the fight being in germany where it is notoriusly hard to get a fair result from refs and judges he said he didnt care. All he needs is a ref that can count to 10 and hold his arm in the air.
trash talking? Definatly but theres been 100'000 trashtalking boxers throughout the years and its just funny.

lol
haye gets my respect for that ;D
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
That's Haye for you.. he may talk trash but unlike most trash talkers he intends to back it up and he wants to back it up ASAP. Wlad will be coming out of this fight with a fear of english men for the rest of his life.
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
I know some of you will throw up in your mouth a little when i say it...but i have to be honest with myslef and say i really do think haye will win this fight. I know i know i just think he pulls it off by KO.
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
However long the fight lasts Haye will be a threat. That's because, unlike your typical Klitschko opponent, he's blessed with mobility and speed. There's even a good chance that by fight time he won't be thierty pounds overweight with a big spare tyre round his waist. All he needs to do then is emulate boxing great Corrie Sanders and manage to stick one on that crystal mandible.
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
This is a weird one for me as I've long detested the Hayemaker as you know. However since Lefty has not been around and we havn't had to endure all those man-boy love images he's got a lot more appealing.
If I'm completely honest the reasons I hate him are jealously related more than anything. His buffness annoys me, his street cool image annoys me, the girls dripping of his arms annoy me and the fact that he is extremely successful to go along with other attributes annoys me most of all.
Putting aside my own prejudices though the guy is exciting.
I'm with Mar I think the closer this gets to fight time the more the odds will shorten on Haye until its an almost even fight by the time they step in the ropes.
We've seen many fights recently which on paper initially seemed unrealistic, Pacman against Oscar, Khan against Barrera the most high profile but there have been others Dunne against Cordoba, Rogan Skelton etc.
Wlad has hardly looked impressive of late against the likes of Thompson, Ibragimov and Rahman and he hasn't fought a real live opponent since Sam Peter in 2005.
Haye is much better boxer than Peter, faster, more agile, possibly a more devastating puncher, certainly more aggressive.
Seeing the trouble Wlad had with Peter, being decked 3 times I think there is a great chance that Haye does exactly what he says and blows Wlad away.
What I think is great about this fight is that we at least know Haye will have a go, unlike all the weak hearted plodders Wlad has faced in recent years.
I think its a win win for boxing, either Haye knocks out Wlad and we have a new actually exciting heavyweight or else Wlad withstands Hayes assualt and in turn demolishes him making Wlad suddenly the attractive exciting world champ he always should have been.
I can't wait for this fight it will be the biggest in the heavyweight division for a long long time.
Come fight night I might even be rooting for the Hayemaker, he is British after all :-X
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
Ditto Bilbo, he is a hateable character for just being !! I do hope we get a Rocky scenario though, it's needed to shake up the division. Gonna get romantic on this one and go for Hay Rocky style for a big KO around the 7th.
yeah I know, I promise to apologies for it later ;D

Great post here Bilbo. I hope and think he will pull it off!
Re: Looks like Haye-Klitschko is set
Though Manny Stewart seems devoted to develop safe strategy and boring boxer lately, I think the fight will be decided on Wlad's jab; I don't think Haye has what it takes to sustain that repeated piston full throttle on the button, especially because he will have a hard time coping up with the size. SO... if he can find a solution for the Jab, maybe he can flat down the giant, otherwise, he'll get peppered and will lie flat on the canvas wondering if the HW division is suited for him.
I might be totally wrong but I really see Haye getting demolished here, not that I hate him, he's a brash loud mouth but he brings color and sparks interests and is intriguing the whole base of fans following the HW division, I am really looking forward to the fight though because even if I think he'll get demolished, I have that little stinging "yeah but.." somewhere in the back of my mind and I kinda need that kind of wonders to fill up my imagination with different scenarios.
