What are you smoking?
Also Bilbo Berto had one knockdown against Rivera where he got sloppy besides that he dominated the entire fight.
Taeth serious if you had your head any higher up Bertos arse you would look like Dion Dublin.
Because I think it ridiculous to state that Urango will beat Berto or because Berto won every single round, except the one he was knocked down in.

Only messing but come on mate you go on about Berto as the second coming when in reality he is nothing special.
Re: Andre Berto is fighting Juan Urango May 30th?
I think he has the potential, just doesn't either have the guidance or the mentality to take advantage of his strengths, if he did IMO he could be a Mayweather or Roy Jones Jr type fighter, but because of his mentality he would be very lucky to even achieve Cotto's level of career.

In terms of this post, I agree that a rematch with Collazo was due, and that fighting a champion 140 junior welterweight is not necessarily the best match, but if Mosley wouldn't fight him and Cotto and Clottey are fighting eachother, who do you suggest he should fight?
Uh no he didn't Berto had the spot on the US national team and beat everyone, but he was disqualified in one of his fights and that eventually led to him being forced to compete for Haiti. He was actually considered the best fighter on the United States team before he was forced off of it.
There is no real way to know, but please see the below links for why I thought that Vanes beat Andre in the amateurs:
Meet The US Olympians - Vanes Martirosyan
HBO: Boxing: JERMAIN TAYLOR VS. KASSIM OUMA: BERTO UNVEILED
Top Rank Boxing
Boxing - Derek Bonnett - Vanes Martirosyan: 2009 and Beyond
As you'll read, Vanes also beat Timothy Bradley in the amateurs.
Re: Andre Berto is fighting Juan Urango May 30th?
Berto had the spot on the team before he was disqualified. Because of his speed and boxing ability people thought he was the best prospect in the 2004 team going into the Olympics. Andre Ward wasn't expected to do as well as he did, and Berto fought a guy who was 6'3 in the olympics and once the guy got ahead he just stayed away.
Re: Andre Berto is fighting Juan Urango May 30th?
This is a very good match-up and a decent voluntary defense. Abit surprised its taken this long for Urango to move up in weight as he looks huge at Jnr Welterweight.
Another good learning fight for Berto against a creditable contender. Berto has superb skills and I'd expect him to beat Urango but it is still a dangerous fight as Urango can bang.
Berto is about 25 years old so relatively young for a World champion and his management are doing a great job. He's not in his prime and not ready for the Elite but if he keeps progressing then I think he can be a major star in the sport.
People like Cotto, Mosley etc have bigger fish to fry and bigger money fights so Berto is unlikely to fight any of them soon. All he can do is keep defending his belt.

spot on welsh
Urango will make the switch to 147 easy as he is a huge light welterweight thats packed with solid muscle and can definitely throw a punch.
Berto`s style is very similar and i would be stunned if this one went the 12rounds.

Berto was one of the best prospects in 2004 and was supposed to be on the team. The DQ was questionable at best, but still from what i gather he lost to Vanes in one of the matches leading up to the games. Vanes is 6'0. Not 6'3. However, he fights at Jr. Middle now and Berto fights at welter.
