Prescott was working on his boxing-power game with the human land shark Toledo last fight out. Will have to be very smart here.So much for a Khan rematch.
Valero vs. Antillon?? They're both Top Rank boxers and Arum smart enough not to match up his top prospects before they reached the top of the heap like what Arum is doing in Margarito vs. Cotto and the forthcoming Clottey vs. Cotto fights...
.
Raining on my fantasies eh.The man is ranked # 1 at 135.You can't get much higher in the heap than that. That is of course, until he gets a title shot ;D.Antillon is one I'm going all in on to become a Champion.Would have loved a Humberto Soto fight, what a scrap, but I think he is going to crash the gates when the opportunity is presented.
well the rings 135 rankings don't have him ranked at all :-\
The Ring Lightweight Ratings

This will be one hell of a fight. I can't pick a winner though, Prescott is pretty big for a LW and will no doubt be the stronger of the two. Would be interesting if they just started throwing bombs once the bell goes.

Looks like they have him at # 6 at 130.Up a notch from last week.Thinking he's looking to sit firm at 135.I dont want to get too carried away in fandom...next thing you know I'll be creating my own "Will Antillon inflict the worst beating ever on Tyrone Harris" thread:cwm13:;D

Ohhh that would be nice.Hopefully Linares can stay healthy and be consistant, just arriving at 130 and should be a huge factor. Both have brutal offences.I do think Antillon should work on his footwork...in spots he tends to stand in front a little much while trying to shoot his huge head/body attack. Will be great to watch both 130/135 pan out.Good fights on the way.

yup yup, i'd give the slight edge to Linares due to level of competition
Re: Arum: Edwin Valero to fight Breidis Prescott on July 25... WOW!
Would love to see Valero/ Prescott! Its an excellent match-up with numerous questions & story lines.
I'd slightly favor Valero, but you never know? What a dream it would be for Prescott to roll Valero!
135 is remains one of the best divisions for great match-ups! With the likes of Marquez, Juan Diaz, Valero. Casamayor & Barrios still looming. Prescott, Peterson & Khan. Guzman, Katsidis & Reyes. Romanov & David Diaz have been inactive but still remain dangerous. Add in the addition of Antillon & possibly Soto & lightweight is looking damn exciting!

Hmmnn the (boring) lightweight tournament, which match-up interest you out of these 4 boxers; Valero, Katsidis, Escobedo and Reyes?
Valero vs. Katsidis will be a little interesting..
.
boring? the whole card was entertaining, i'd love to see Valero/Katsidis and although i basically have no faith in Escobedo, Reyes put on a good performance as well
Yeah I must agree I enjoyed all 4 fights from the Lightweight Lightning card.
When I said "boring", I'm referring to the tournament itself Master Bilbo... I consider this tournament as a one time event only... How many fights before they can crown one champ here and how many years will it take?? Are the boxers involved in this tournament has contracts to continue fighting here until there's one champ? I don't think so... This move by Valero showed that he's not obliged to finish this "boring" tournament... The idea of this tournament is great but I think there's so many complications and problems ahead in order to complete a credible tournament...
Let's also consider that Valero is already a lightweight champion...
.
Re: Arum: Edwin Valero to fight Breidis Prescott on July 25... WOW!
This is great if it is pulled off. Every genuine boxing fan has to respect both of these promising prospects for stepping towards each other instead protecting oneself while looking for that big name. Undefeated knockout artist. I will tuned in like a purist because I know you don't have to have a name for the bout to be more meaningful than named fighters at each other. This fight will propel one and stumble another. But maybe if the winner is too good that night it will do more harm than good. As boxers nowadays are more concerned with the reward than the risk. I commend Prescott and Valero for daring to be great...even at the expense of each other.
Re: Arum: Edwin Valero to fight Breidis Prescott on July 25... WOW!
Wow, great fight Valero vs Prescott. I like this Valero kid, his last fight was against a tough opponent and now he is going to fight Prescott. That's good should be a great great fight...for about 3 rounds. :D
Re: Arum: Edwin Valero to fight Breidis Prescott on July 25... WOW!
I have changed my mind. I think Prescott wins this fight. I get the feeling Valero is little over-rated and over hyped because KO record. It's funny though they say in boxing "You don't what you deserve. You get what you negotate" So Prescott KO's Amir Khan inside a minute. His reward ? A title show aganist a dangerous Edwin Valero. Where as Amir Khan gets world title shot aganist feather fisted Andres Kotenik and despite the KO Khan's stature and staus within boxing is still higher than Prescotts
Re: Arum: Edwin Valero to fight Breidis Prescott on July 25... WOW!
valero seems to be a tremendously powerful puncher and is a total swarm once he's got you in trouble. I just think that he may fall when he come up against someone that can punch. he's pretty wild and doesn't have much of a defence.
I think he'll find prescott reall tough work, hes a tall man for a lightweight and can throw some bombs, as Amir Kahn's chin will tell you all about. Could be in for a Prescott win by KO for this, can't wait for it though if it comes off.
