Shane & Floyd are my two favourite boxers & it would be a great fight, but from a boxing perspective, I would like to see Shane fight the winner of Cotto-Clottey, and Floyd fight Pacquiao (should he beat JMM) and then the winners of those fights go for each other.
Hmm, how come?
Seems like its been good for boxing to me, there are times when ESPN seems to care more about the WNBA or bowling than boxing. Yet its been all over the place lately.
The period since the Hatton-Pacquaio fight has seen more mainstream coverage of boxing than there has been for a long time here. Great little moment for boxing. Just need to ride it out, keep making big fights with the stars of the sport.
And Brian Kenny becoming sort of a go to guy for boxing and boxing interviews on ESPN is great for the sport.
Re: Brian Kenny gets reaction from Shane Mosley
Mosley should at least try and stay busy. Might end up nearly being a year since beating Margarito before he gets in the ring again. I hate it when boxers become inactive. He's getting old too.

I just don't like Brian Kenny, although thinking about it I don't like most boxing broadcasters or writers. I also found the Mosley interview a bit cringeworthy because Shane didn't seem a natural at the trash talk & looked like he was reading off some cue cards just below the camera. He also should have pushed him the same way he did Floyd, such as asking him why he's turned down a fight with Williams.
I suppose I didn't think about it being better for boxing in the long-term, that's a good point, although I think this period will only last as long as PBF & Manny are around, as they're the only 2 internationally recognizable stars that the sport currently has (guys like Shane, JMM & Cotto being slightly on the periphery of that). Would like in a way to see more crossroads fights with guys like Ortiz, Williams, Berto getting a shot at the top guys now to try create more future stars

Selling out an arena has nothing to do with PPV buys, and 90% of the crowd were Margarito fans. Shane didn't sellout the arena on his own. He dodged the question, just like Floyd dodged questions.
Not to mention the fact that Shane lied repeatedly about the HGH/steroids scandal over the years.
Just as when Floyd sold big vs Oscar it was because of Oscars fans. Shane also did big ppv vs Vargas but unless Floyd has a big name in the other corner he isnt a big attraction either .
For Floyd to fight Marquez over Shane by saying he is a bigger ppv attraction is a joke. Marquez is a guy who went to Indionesia afew years ago for 30k. Floyd would have come away with more credit by saying he wants an easy warm up vs the lightweight champ before he takes on the welterweight champ. But to say its cuz Marquez has a country behind him etc is a poor excuse.
If Floyd called Marquez an easy warm-up people would rightly be disgusted. People say they give him more credit if he's honest, but that's what he does when he says that he fights for money. Also no way that Shane is anywhere near the attraction, if he was doing a training session in London, you would probably get about 100-200 people turning up & that's being optimistic.
Floyd does one & a 1000+ people come along.
I think thats more down to the Brits knowing Floyd through the Hatton fight. Had Shane knocked Hatton out he would be better known in London but I think Shane is more popular than Floyd. If someone did a poll of who is more liked Shane wins it hands down.

Nope, a very big number of those there are kids from the inner-cities like myself, a lot of who know Floyd more because he rolls with people in rap & because of his success. Where I live Mayweather is WAY more popular than Hatton, in fact I'd say people who wouldn't know who Hatton or Calzaghe is, know Floyd Mayweather. He's by far the most popular boxer for younger people, for most of whom Shane Mosley just doesn't register. Mosley may be more popular among boxing fans, but not the general public.

He fought and knocked him out now people wanna downplay those wins. Floyd is absolutely right that he gets no credit for his wins.
Floyd WAS the True Welterweight champ after he beat Baldomir. That was the only time though. Then he chose to fight Oscar and Hatton, neither of whom were welterweight champions. Now its been three years since he was a legit Welterweight champion and he tries to act like he has done enough in that time to still be considered the best Welterweight in the world. He could have fought Margarito, Cotto, or Mosley, to prove that he really is the best but he didnt. He retired. And now hes back to fight a lightweight at Welterweight. Shane is right that if Floyd fought the same opposition as him, he would have loses too.
He won the linear and ring championship from Baldomir and beat his predecessor Zab Judah before him. When did he have the oppertunity to fight Cotto? Cotto's defining fight was against Mosley, and that took place weeks if not a week before Mayweather-Hatton after which Mayweather retired. Margarito is obviously a joke, if he couldn't deal with Mosley's movement and defensive skills how would he land a punch on Mayweather? Let alone beat him... And no Mayweather didn't stick around, he went up to 154 to win a belt against Oscar De La Hoya who was arguably the best fighter at 154 at the time. Then he beat Hatton who people had wanted Floyd to fight for 4 or 5 years? Sure Mosley knocked out Mayorga, but that was in the twelth round, look at what Oscar did to Mayorga, and that was a better Mayorga.
Also its ironic, Thought Mosley had already moved up to 147, Mayweather was calling him out to fight at 135-140ish, and Mosley refused saying he was p4p#1, and that Mayweather wasn't worth his time monetarily.
I wouldnt listen to Floyd haters really. If Floyd had moved up and beat Cory Spinks who was the best at 154 they would have just said that Spinks was nothing special and he should have fought Oscar. It doesn't matter. People try to say the belts dont matter so you fight this guy and that guy but when Floyd fights and beats them they say "What about the guy holding the belt there" etc.

Floyd is the one who insists he is as great as the likes of SRL.
He also insists he is the 'cash cow' of boxing, which he clearly isn't.
He has avoided Cotto, Margarito and Mosley when they were all fighting each.
He still says he is the best P4P fighter in the world, like boxing was somehow frozen in time in his absence.
Says Mosley is not 'worthy' due to having 5 losses on his record. Gatti and Baldomir must have been lucky......or was it Gatti's popularity and a piss poor undisputed champ that swayed him?
These are my MAJOR beefs regarding Floyd.
He is an exeptional talent but too shit scared of losing his 0, so we won't ever find out how great he could of been.
Re: Brian Kenny gets reaction from Shane Mosley
Well, what can I say. I'm a huge Mosley nuthugger. Mayweather's just so afraid of him, IMO. They could have fought before but PBF's been ducking him.lol.
Mayweather's afraid to get SUGAR SHANED!!!

thats funny cause here in the states floyd is not really known to "roll" with people in rap. You only really see him with 50 cent in youtube clips. Where you live Floyd is bigger than hatton and Calzaghe? so where exactly do you live? Im suprise really unless you live here in the states too cause for sure floyd is bigger then any british fighter here.
Game is right, Shane is actually more known then floyd. Shanes two big fights with Oscar brought him to the public eyes way before floyd was heard of. Plus having the name "sugar" gets you extra attention. I think anybody who knows any sport knows the name "sugar" now a days i think shane is the icon when that name comes up.

Really, so he isn't up in the Ludacris video, or he doesn't hang around with people like Young Jeezy, Luda & Ray J? Well, they must photoshop him into the pictures with them in magazines. You may surprised. Alright, let me put this a more base way, that in the inner-cities of LONDON particularly 'black' areas, kids are far more likely to idolize Floyd Mayweather or Roy Jones, than Ricky Hatton or Joe Calzaghe, & they are more likely to be known to non-boxing fans. Is that clear? There is no way Shane is more well-known than Floyd, compare the respective PPVs. Shane is also one of my favourite fighters, but let's face it he's not a big draw, not even in his own city was Shane the draw fighter. That's not his fault, it's more down to the way Jin Mosley mismanaged his career, post-Oscar. That you say Shane is 'the icon' when the name Sugar comes up is just plain ridiculous, you can't even compare his popularity with that of Sugar Ray Leonard, & I would go as far to say that Ray Robinson is still more recognizable as 'Sugar'. Shane is a true ATG in my eyes, but a guy who has transcended the sport he is sadly not.
Re: Brian Kenny gets reaction from Shane Mosley
Floyd "No testicles" Mayweather hand picks his fights obviuosly! Is JMM good? absolutly but he's naturally smaller. Floyd is one of these types of guys who likes to compile a lot of big names on their resume but arn't the top notch challenges. Pound for pound I think JMM is every bit as good as Mosley and Cotto but for Mayweather to say he's the biggest challenge:rolleyes:, he's gotta step up to the plate! Floyd vs Shane would be tricky. Mayweather might be the more "on target guy" but I don't think he would be able to keep up with Mosley's work rate (A big reason he should have lost to Castillio, and a reason he may lose to JMM!) The great thing about Pacquiao now is that he has as much pulling power if not more than Mayweather, so Mayweather might have to come close to 140 for Manny to fight him! I love the 130-147 weight ranges right now, probly loaded with its most talent in history and so many fights to be made!;D
Re: Brian Kenny gets reaction from Shane Mosley
This is a fight I waish we could have taken both men at put them at their 135lb best. I would take Mosley by KO then as well

I guess you've missed the numerous times PBF has called Mosley out. Maybe you also missed the time when Shane was asked about a proposed Mayweather fight and he essentially refused it.
Here's an interview with PBF where he mentions Mosley as a possible opponent:

Yes but theres a difference in saying someone's name and stepping up to the plate when the time comes!
