Even if the title means nothing Kotelnik was ranked the 4th BEST lightwelter in the world by The Ring and 7th BEST by the Saddo ratings.
So Khan's win puts him amongst the top 10 lightwelters in the world. Therefore a great win for Khan.
It wouldn't have been a great win for Pac. Or Hatton. But it is a great win for Khan. ;)
Re: Kahns route to his paper title
Kahn has won a version of a world title. Well done. His route to the title is what i question the most. I dont think he deserved it so soon after getting toasted by prescott, I dont think his wins over fagan and barrera were imppressive at all! Dont get me wrong hes only 22 and has done well to win a world title many people could only dream of this. Now kahns next move will be his most important for his image, He is now a world champion he doesnt have the right to refuse any challenges now.

Kotelnik was no worse an opponent than Maussa, Urango or Lazcano though so I reckon even Ricky would have pleased with it.
Only Tyszu and Malignaggi are bigger wins on Hattons record.
I don't count Collazo because I feel Hatton clearly lost that fight.

Well you can't really rank a guy out of the top 10 if he has a world title.

This is no doubt a good win for Khan, he should fight Maidana now, who just beat Kotelnik everywhere except on the scorecards and then went on to show Victor Ortiz his limits. It would be a fan friendly fight that could only become more competitive as the fight goes on.

That was a great win for Khan.
Con beat a non-puncher paper champion who had no buisness being champion in the first place. Maidana should of got the win against Kotelnik. And that's as you love to say a fact
No that's your opinion. But i'll address some points...
1. Pointing out Kotelnik is a "non-puncher" is totally irrelevant. Has there never been non-punching "world" champions? There is currently a P4P rated non-puncher - Ivan Calderon. So you see, the ability to punch very hard doesn't stop fighters from becoming "world" champion.
2. In your opinion Kotelnik lost to Maidina so shouldn't have been "world" champion? Fine. But if we take that route then Marquez is a phony champion at 135. The WHOLE world saw Santa Cruz get disgracefully robbed against Casamayor. So in reality the true MAN at 135, on a line through Santa Cruz, is Valero. Using your logic the entire history of boxing would need to be rewritten. ;)
Now back to the original question - what is so different about Khan's route to a paper/alphabet title compared with the OTHER paper/alphabet champs? The answer is NOTHING!!!
There are currently 80 "world" champions (74 different fighters) in 17 divisions according to the WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF.
Clearly this is utterly ridiculous.
There can be only ONE world champion per division. SO.. All alphabet holders, apart from the FEW that are linear champion, are unworthy of being called WORLD champion. Therefore Khan's route to winning the title, and his now status as champion, is no more phony than any other current beltholder. Or just as phony. And that is a FACT.
Fact. ;)

Oh it's totally relevant. Con is suppose to be some new changed fighter under Roach. Con winning a "world title" is suppose to be the proof. LOL. Yeah ok. It's all just make up. Con problem ain't his style of fighting. It's his chin. Or lack of one. That problem hasn't been address. Because it can't be fixed. Con's chin is to weak. And everybody knows it. And that's why Con's route to the title is more phony than others. It was manufactered. Con was already moving up the rankings. Thank you Mr. Warren. A title shot was around the corner. Question is against who? The true champion at the weight is now his stablemate. So he can't fight Pacquiao. The WBO and WBC (at the time) champion Tim Bradley is to busy and would bully Con all night. IBF champ Juan Urango is slow as fukk. But his power is real. That fight is not even a consideration. That leaves WBA champ Kotelnik. A decent fighter who can't punch. Perfect. Problem is Kotelnik already has a fight set up against the murder punching Maidana. The last thing they want is Con facing Maidana. What to do? Slide some money into the judges pockets and make sure Maidana does not get the win he deserves against Kotelink. That way Con-Kotelink gets made and Con gets his title.
Come on now home boy. Shiit is clear as day. Con's road to the title was manufactured by his daddy Warren

So FW paid the judges to rob Maidina against Kotelnik? Fucks sake ;D
You've missed my point with the rest of your post ;)

That's cuz your point don't matter. What you don't think Warren is capable of paying off judges?

He is, but I really doubt he does it in a fight that doesn't involve him before Khan has even fought Barrera. I mean if Khan's chin was as bad as you say he was focused on that fight right? I'm curious VD, what would Khan have to do to get some credit from you? If he fights & beats Maidana will you give it to him?

Yes. I just want to see him beat a puncher. Any legit puncher. It don't even have to be Maidana. I settle for Juan Urango or even Randall Bailey. He should fight the winner of there up coming fight. Ricardo Torres would do just fine as well
