The Last Word: Racist fans and bitter spats as love is floored - Others, More Sports - The Independent
He was also booed at the Prescott fight and he also loudly booed at the Pacquiao - Hatton weigh-in, by british fans.
By the way, i'm not saying he is without support, he clearly isn't. But i wouldn't go as far as saying his support pisses all over the boo-boys.
Are you kidding? You'd rather take the word from some report than use your own ears?
Listen to the last link i posted. That's the Prescott fight from the crowds perspective. Where are the boos?
Bizarrely Khan seemed to be booed by some. Exactly, SOME.
For your argument to mean anything it would need to be about 50/50. It's more like 95-5 in favour of Khan.
And as for the Hatton weigh-in, Mosley and Marquez were booed too (Jaz was there), because they were pissed-up Brit yobbo football fans not proper boxing fans.
I've yet to go to a Boxing venue where the majority aren't pissed up football fans so i'm not sure what that's got to do with anything. Plus if we're using your brit yobbo footballing fans terminology, it's understandable that Marquez and Mosley got booed because they aren't English. Khan is.
I've never said that he has any irrational hate on this board, but i'd imagine this board or the opinion of similar boxing forums probably represent around 10% if that, of an attending crowd.
I wouldn't rather take some report than use my own ears. I've heard for myself mate. I know i'm not the only one who's heard it. It's also something that's been mentioned a fair few times in Boxing News (fight reports). Hell, reading Youtube comments will give you a decent idea.
*awaits Fenster's handpicked youtube comments* :p
Sorry mate, it's going to take more than a couple of handheld youtube videos to convince me that the support for Khan far outweighs the distain for him.
Unreal.
When other fighters get booed is that racism too?

Hate to say it fenst but the amount of times i used to here fellas in a pub hoping hamed/khan would get beat and then follow it up with its because of their race :(
Where black fighters are concerned we are way past that. Bruno and been were beloved in this country.
But khan still endlessly raises the is he british 1st or muslim 1st? A lot of his travelling fans are from the pakistani/british community and do tend to chant "pakistan" quite a lot.
Retarded argument i know. Amir doesnt strike me as either arrogant or unpatriotic and while he lacks the charisma to become a household hero just like calzaghe, we should still be fully behind one of our boys reaching his true potential
Re: Who hopes Khan can become an elite boxer? Vote now!
What's the point of this poll? I mean he will fight on or he won't. He will win or he won't. I don't think we have that much control over whether or not he will become great. I mean we could demand he fight someone notable and vow to pay to see it... But other than that it's up to all the promoters, right?
IMO he will become great when he is faced with adversity and overcomes.. Right now he doesn't want to face unsurmountable adversity, and that's ok bc he is 22 yrs old.

I'm not surprised considering you hang around with BNP supporters. ;)
From a boxing perspective the racist hate for Khan comes from a small minority. That's my point. Whether Khan was a boxer or not ignorant racists would still hate him. That SHOULD NOT be confused with boxing fans that don't like him for a particular reason.
Once again - ALL famous successful fighters have both lovers and haters.

Wow slow down. I never said the people who boo him are racist.
I said that from experience i believed racism was a factor in some peoples judgement. And i stand by that statement, because it's something that i've witnessed....on several occassions unfortunately.

I understand what you're saying.. but it's pretty obvious SOME peoples hate for Khan is due to racism. I think this argument is lazy.
From a boxing perspective the racist hate for Khan comes from a small minority. That shouldn't be confused with genuine boxing fans booing him because they dislike a particular thing about him - style, attitude, image, way he's promoted, rooting for his opponent etc.
Again.. All famous fighters get haters. ;)

You believe every european fighter is second string and that north\south america pretty much owns the sport of boxing.
Ive got news for you....heavyweight, cruserweight, super middleweight - all currently run by fighters from our continent

If you don't give a shit then why waste your time posting? Seriously..
My thoughts: I like Khan. I've always been a fan of his, I don't give a shit about his race.. he's an entertaining fighter, he's talented, and he's a nice bloke. So what if he's a little over-ego at times.. so are alot of other fighters too, half of them don't get as much shit for it as Khan does.
I too have heard racist remarks towards Khan on a number of occassions, although generally by people who wouldn't know the difference between a straight left and a left hook. :p I hope he goes on to bigger and better things, and I think he will.. but I think he'll NEVER silence the haters.. if he took on Mayweather and Pac Man at the same time tomorrow, and knocked them both spark out, he'd still have Violent D calling him Kon.
Re: Who hopes Khan can become an elite boxer? Vote now!
Yes, I'd like to see him become an elite fighter. But no, I can't see it happening as eventually he's going to have to get in the ring with somebody who can punch to do it.
Re: Who hopes Khan can become an elite boxer? Vote now!
Sure. I don't care where he's from, but more elite boxers are never a bad thing and if it helps perpetuate the populatity of the sport in the U.K. then I'm all for it.

yea, and i give the Klitschko's all the credit in the world
Cruiserweight's top 2 are Adamek (Poland) and Cunningham (USA)
umm super middleweight's top 10 is
1.Ward (USA)
2.Bute (Canada)
3.Froch (UK)
4.Kessler (Denmark)
5.Abraham (Germany)
6.Green (USA)
7.Bika (Australia, but guess that's Europe now )
8.Dirrell (USA)
9.Andrade (Mexico)
10.Stieglitz (Germany)
so that's 5 for North/South America, 4 for Europe, and 1 for the Aussie's
don't really take it there buddy :-X
after saying that, i go by what i've always said, i don't give a shit where they're from, they represent themselves, not their countries
