I'd agree with that.
I was always a Eubank fan when both men were around so Benn wasn't ever my favorite fighter, so maybe deep down some of my biased lives on. But I think he won the fight with Gerald more because of the mistakes G-Man was making after all but having Benn finished and IMO Jones hit harder was faster and was a lot lot harder to hit than G-man ever was in them days and would never have let Benn back into the fight like that and to me Benn would have been tailor made for Jones as would Mcllelan (I know he beat Jones in the ams, but we all know that is totally different and they were only kids).
Roy would be favourite, but Benn was more seasoned and experienced and this is boxing, one punch and it could happen. If Benn and Gerald never fought, most would say Gerald would have won, but Benn just would not be denied, and one thing he hated was losing to yanks.
I think its a fore gone conclusion that Jones was class above Benn in terms of speed, reflex, etc but he was not the fundamentally sound by the book boxer type.Benn would have been a constant and accurate threat the likes of which Jones had never seen.....Do think the needing of a McCall-Esq eyes closed lucky shot a tad bit of a stretch. Not many stood up to Benns best unless they had a solid beard and stood ground to back him at times.I think there would have been times in which Jones saw the danger and would come into capitalize...unlike carrying some which he did....Benn knew how to line them up,rolled even and was more that a clubber as he progressed.
