Clottey doesnt have the skills or the killer instinct to do that. Its why he was chosen as an opponent. All he could do was cover up. Its a pretty basic defence but Pac couldnt break it and Pac marked up alot from the few shots Clottey did land. Floyds defence is far more layered and he would land more counters so Pac would mark up considerably more. I still doubt the fight will happen unless Pac is willing to budge. If he has grown dependant on these Peds then he wont take the test but if he isnt on anything then I think he will eventually agree to random testing and we will get the fight we want.

Floyd has business of his own to deal with 1st but I think he will beat Mosley on points.

I know how Clottey feels, when you have a major stomach ache and have to shit real bad you just can't focus.

Clottey is full of shit (lol..ok bad joke) clottey didn't throw punches for the same reason dogs chase cats. It's just his nature. The only people dissappointed in this fight were those who expected clottey to do anything different than he always does. You don't have to beat clottey, he beats himself. You could just as easy win rounds against this guy by throwing punches off his wrists and just looking busier. I've been practicing fortune telling and can predict his next fight too. He'll show up, huge as hell, keep his guard up not throw punches and loose. Pm me if you want the prediction of his fight after that, i've seen that one too. There was a fighter a who actually left the fight in the middle because he had to take one...Ran right out of the ring and to the back....Can't recall who it was......was a pretty important fight for the guy as well...Minor title or eliminator bout I think

He fought the way he fights, he was overwhelmed by speed, he landed some shots but was worried about opening too much due to getting caught by speed..,.

Outside of this fight Clottey has been pretty damn solid of a fighter no?...Never has been really beaten up.....Margarito was losing til the broken hands, Cotto got all he could handle and luck to escape with a win, Baldomir getting it too him when the DQ happened...

I think Joshua Clottey gets alot of stick, because its always the same with him. He's a talented fighter whos a good all rounder.

But he always lacks the killer instinct,the heart and also the mental game. He was comfortably beating Carlos Baldomir, but again his mental game let him down and he failed.

Against Antonio Margarito he fought a good fight, for a quarter of the way. But because he injured his hand, and by the way he never broke anything. And plenty of fighters have won or atleast tried harder, with much worse injuries.

He basically went into a defensive shell, and lacked the heart to try and win. And instead was just happy with a half good performance and just survive.

Against Miguel Cotto again his mental game let him down, he seemed to totally lose focus at times. Especially in the 7th round i think it was, when he just layed on the ropes getting battered, not too mention when he slipped and made such a big deal out of nothing.

But despite all that what really let me down, was in the later rounds. When Joshua Clottey had the fight won, but again lacked the heart and the killer instinct.

When he pretty much had Miguel Cotto beat. He let Miguel Cotto outhustle him, when he should of been the one pressing the action.

And lastly against Manny Pacquiao, it was the biggest fight of his life. And he should of let it all hang out, but instead was content just to survive, only throwing 300+ punches compared to Manny Pacquiao's 1200+.

I personally thought despite Joshua Clottey letting me down in the past, he'd really go for it considering how big this fight is. But again it was a disappointing display by Joshua Clottey.

I've always said Joshua Clottey is a talented fighter, but he lacks vital things which you can't teach. And that is Heart, Killer Instinct, Strong Mentality. And those 3 things are why he has failed to reach to elite level, and those 3 things will always stop him reaching the elite level.

I think thats what makes it so frustrating though.The fact that he is such a talented fighter with potential,promise.I said prior that I thought he had quality skills to possibly pull an upset :-X but he does not maximize what it will take.Skills alone will not beat a Manny Pacquiao...you need a mentality of a finisher and a risk taker.Ultimitley its easy to judge from the outside,every fighter risks all on any giving night.But Clottey was content,he settles and he Imo goes through the motions on many occasions.Would raw tenacity and willingness to engage mixed with decent skills taken him to victory.....most likely not,too fast,too accurate,too much.Shite,it may very well have led to him being busted up or a tko "L" but he would have at least maximized the oppurtunity and his chances that the majority of fighters will never have.

To this day I think Margarito was building to win,hands or no hands.Clottey came in with tender paws,Margarito had a iffy ankle if I'm not mistaken.His tirad and pleads on stool in 9th,10th were defening.He sounded as if he wanted to quit.Did he x ray them during the fight?Nah....guys get injured between the ropes all the time...some fight on,some way some how,and some say they woulda,coulda,shoulda...if only an injury happened.Harsh yes and again easy to say from sidelines but thats the way I see it.And I love Cotto...but he showed signs of a injured,busted and retreating fighter.Clottey never pressed,never insisted on victory.I think he could have stopped Cotto.

But as someone who has been a Clottey fan for years this was always sadly predictable. Pacquiao is the ultimate bad style match up for Clottey because he doesn't look to create openings to counter, but rather just waits for the opponents to offer them. I was actually surprised how often he connected.

I do think people look to make excuses for him in the past though. I thought he beat Cotto, but he could have taken it out of the judges hands by stopping him if he'd just put a bit more effort in, especially considering he was in New York on the eve of Puerto Rican Day Parade.

The Margarito fight was one he would have lost regardless of his hands, it would have been like Saturday. Margarito just threw too many punches for him to deal with. Similarly the Baldomir fight he was ahead on the judges scorecards, but not by much & was fading badly & I think the fouls were his way of trying to get out of there without being stopped or dropped, which I think was a possibility.

Clottey was chosen because he's a perfect match-up for Pacquiao to look great against whilst being credible. I don't think he lacks heart, but he doesn't have mentality it takes to be elite. Still, I'm glad he got a life-changing payday.

From the above statement, I won't give Floyd a chance to beat Pacquiao. Yes Floyd has tons of skills, a good finisher but sadly not a risk taker. No way Floyd beats Pacquiao without taking some risks.
