Re: Calzaghe issues apology
Ultimately, that's his sole problem if he gets into problems because of coke but it sure doesn't show the youth of England the way to follow. I also agree that the guy who did rat him for his 5 minutes of glory should be slapped behind the head repeatedly, paparazzis are definitely a plague that should be controlled.

Me and most people don't. Joe Calzaghe is a tosser, when he was fighting. He constantly kept contradicting himself, about how he would never fight RJJ. Because it wouldn't mean anything beating him now, then what does he do ?
He retires on that win then makes out its same great achievement, now since he's been retired.
He left his long time partner, for some young women. And now the cocaine use and no one knows, how long he's been using it.
And the thing is which makes it bad, is that he has kids. Do you think its right what he's doing while he has kids ? am i the only one on this board not to think this is totally out of order ?
Because im quite shocked so many people on this board, are passing it up like its nothing. Forgetting if Joe Calzaghe wasn't a boxer, its still wrong end of.
Cocaine kills people and can ruin peoples lives, drinking is also bad but i also don't drink.
Wait...big nose Calzaghe left his super model wife ? :o
Re: Calzaghe issues apology
I don't think Calzaghe really needed to issue an apology. He was set up and as has been pointed out, he is hardly commiting any serious crime. ICB has a fair point in that a responsible father shouldn't be on the town womanising and coking it up, but to be fair we wouldn't really know about Calzaghe and coke if the gutter press hadn't forced it down our throats. The kids would certainly have been none the wiser. The older me doesn't really agree with using drugs, but that's the choice people must make for themselves.

Yes but for a younger hotter girl so it's all cool.
Plus he didn't cheat like all the other celebs that get condemned on here, (apart from that rugby player who everyone is fine with cheating on his wife cos he was fucking blokes), he ended the old relationship first, which is pretty acceptable behaviour in my book.
Re: Calzaghe issues apology
As Miles said, it is the press that have made it public, otherwise nobody would know - his kids certainly wouldn't
Paul McCartney explains it perfectly........

Re: Calzaghe issues apology
Why should he apoligise? He worked his arse of as a boxer, never lost for over 20 years.
People make a big fuss about cocaine, but alcohol and ciggaretes do more harm.
The fact that he took an illegal drug don't mean shit to me.
He was and will always be the best super middleweight ever.
And he should ignore that tool Jones and stay retired.

He upgraded. Got himself a younger, newer model. I personally see no reason why he couldn't keep both. A lot of people own 2 cars. But I'm guessing that new crack habit is already draining his finances. So I'm guessing he didn't want the head ache of putting up with broads draining his accounts even more

The best Super Middleweight of all time, in one of the weakest era's of all time. In a new division where the top fighters RJJ, James Toney, Mike McCallum, ETC.
Didn't bother staying at because it was considered a weak division, thats the only reason he was number 1 at that division. Had the top American fighters decided to stay at that weightclass.
Instead of moving up to win more belts at other weightclasses, Joe Calzaghe would of had atleast 3 losses on his record, and IMO i think he should already have 2 losses. So make that 5 losses actually.

Well i haven't actually fought myself, this isn't Fight Club mate. But yes i have boxed i done it for quite awhile, i had a few Amateur fights, i enjoyed it. But never had any intention of becoming a pro or ETC.
Plus i've got a kid and i've moved since that, which is why i gave it up. But i still like to try and go and do the training and ETC, when i have the time to do it. Secondly are you honestly saying i talk rubbish ? hold on a minute.
Aren't you known on this board as the most biased guy regarding British fighters ? and also whats rubbish about my post ? i posted facts the part about the American fighters beating Joe Calzaghe is an opinion, but i think many boxing fans would agree with that comment.
I know plenty about the sport, i come from a boxing family. My Grandad's brother beat Olympic gold medalist Terry Spinks, my Grandad was also a very good boxer and taught me alot about the sport. And my uncles were all boxers.
I grew up on boxing and picked it up at a very young age, and i know alot about Joe Calzaghe probably more than you. I've seen his Amateur fights and pretty much every single fight he's had as a pro.
So i think im well entilted to an opinion on Joe Calzaghe, considering this is a boxing forum. And everyone is allowed to voice there opinion whether or not you agree, but i know you wouldn't agree anyway.
your a Joe Calzaghe nuthugger just like Seanie, infact your so alike you could be twins.
Re: Calzaghe issues apology
ICB don't be so mad, now this means that Coke Calzaghe will come out of retirement to feed his new crack habit - Then we get to see that loss he deserved on his record a long, long time ago. Maybe in a rematch with Peter Manfredo Jr!! Man that is giving me trouser discomfort just thinking about it..;D
In all seriousness, I agree with most of your points..Especially that Joe Calzaghe is a tosser but I kinda sit somewhere in the middle of what the pro-cokers are saying and what you're saying.
I don't do - Never have, never will regardless of how much money I end up making because the temptations been there for me all along. I got rid of those friends at school (or should I say they walked on me because I wouldn't indulge) and hung out with people I discovered to be REAL friends. For that reason, I would never touch it myself (and the fact I feel the way it is administered to be trampy)..people reliant on it will sell you out for the shit in my experience. My group of GOOD friends is about 10 strong and none of us would ever touch it. We ain't angels by a long stretch but we just don't need to do drugs.
But I'm not naive to think it doesn't go on a lot - It does..and a hell of a lot too. Each to their own. If Coke Calzaghe wants to do it, let him do it. If it doesn't affect his kids then fair enough but I think indirectly it always would. He shouldn't have taken the responsibility of being a father if he wasn't ready.
Either way it's like "whatever" with me. Confirms what I knew about him all along. Insecure tosser who won't stop going on about his undefeated record even though it means shit. He takes a bit of coke to get away from that reality... ;)
