Re: Margarito Licensed To Fight In Texas
Margarito didn't get a 1 year ban in California, he got 1 year before he could go before the board and re-apply. I know he tried to apply Nevada but they told him to go to California to try again, you know where he would actually have to explain himself. That was the right thing to do, but Texas didn't care and just wants another Pacquiao fight probably. If he went back in front of California, he would get turned away again. He basically got life with the chance of being paroled in a year. That's NOT the system failing.
If Texas didn't care that he didn't go back to California, would it have made a difference that he was banned in California? I can almost guarantee you that the answer there is no. So the system only failed because all the states aren't completely unified. Texas is notorious for thinking they are their own separate entity in the Union, this is just another example of it. So I fail to see how the California or the system failed here. This is all on Texas doing what Nevada could have done but had the backbone not to do.
Re: Margarito Licensed To Fight In Texas
I was thinking that if Valero didn't commit suicide that would have been the fight in November instead of this, considering that Valero is also of top rank.
I was also thinking Pac should have chosen Berto or have a fight with Bradley at 140.
But unfortunately the sport we all love is just too shady as fuck with promoters not giving a shit about the sport but their pockets.
Re: Margarito Licensed To Fight In Texas
The Texas Boxing Commission must have had some kind of incentive to grant Margarito a license to fight in the state. Wait... where's the fight being held again? Texas Stadium? The home of the Dallas Cowboys and the greedy super-millionaire bastard owner Jerry Jones? Hmmm... if it smells like sh*t and looks like sh*t.... it's probably sh*t. Wouldn't be surprised to find that some TBC members suddenly have a new Lexus in the garage. Just a thought...
