Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
juanma marquez would have given ricky hatton a nice boxing lesson like he gave katsidis and stopped him late as well.

I love Katsidis but Ricky Hatton did make Koysta quit. I dont know about JMM being able to school ricky and stop him at 140. JMM has never even fought at that weight.

if Pacquiao was able to counter Hatton the way he did, Marquez would have done it just the same, only difference is he would have taken his time doing it and stopped Hatton a bit later around the 8th or 9th, no doubt in my mind

thats if JMM is himself at 140. If his timing is off and he is slowed by the extra weight, ricky could bully him for 12 rounds.
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
juan diaz tried to bully him and he got KO'd. michael katsidis tried the same thing and look what it got him. any come forward fighter like diaz, katsidis and yes, even pacquiao would play into the hands of the counterpunching marquez. and marquez just isn't a counterpuncher, he's also a fighter that puts together beautiful combinations. ricky hatton would have gotten utterly frustrated and KO'd in the late rounds as marquez would have taken his time to dismantle the gritty brit.
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
mosley purely on the basis he hurt mayweather in the 2nd round which isnt really enough but JMM didnt really do anything of any merit due to lack of size, speed and style

ummm did you not watch the Katsidis fight? Marquez was at 145 lbs on fight night, he didn't look any slower and his timing was definitely not off, he would wreck Hatton

Why are people giving Pacquiao crap if he fights Marquez at 147 if he steps into the ring against Kastidis at 145?

Actually you are right I forgot JMM did weigh in at 145, therfor he shouldnt have any problem leaving 135 and fighting at 140.
What I am trying to tell you is Hatton may look shit now but Katsidis and Juan Diaz are a level below Ricky and the fact that Ricky is bigger and stronger.
JMM whooped Diaz and Katsidis that doesn't mean he'll do the same to Hatton. Different animal Ricky is/was.
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
I think Roach will pit Khan with JMM after the Maidana fight. Hopefully JMM won't duck him again.

and he did it effortlessly...at 37, Hatton was countered all night by a guy who's not a counter puncher in Pacquiao, Marquez is probably THE BEST counter puncher alive today, he would catch Hatton and counter him all night, he has a sturdy enough chin to take Hatton's shots, and he has the uppercut which Hatton has always been open for, it's not even in theory, Marquez would destroy Hatton, and yea he already released a statement saying he'd go all the way up to 147 to fight Pacquiao so he's not the one holding up a possible fight, that'd be Manny who's looking to fight Floyd's leftovers once again

Khan is finally fighting Maidana basically cause he had no other choice (well unless he wanted to sit out and wait till after Alexander/Bradley), Marquez has never ducked anyone, and if anyone would be the coward it'd be Khan for looking to fight a smaller guy in Marquez (or Morales as he and Roach were looking for) instead of guys like Bradley, Alexander, Ortiz, or anyone at 140 or above

Its funny cause your theory is that JMM is a better counter puncher then pac so that means JMM will beat hatton too. Well Floyd is a better counter puncher then all and even him didnt have such an easy time with Hatton before he did stop Hatton. We saw JMM fight above 135 once, granted it was against the best boxer (floyd) but he did not look as good. Your telling me JMM would go up to 140 and treat Hatton like he treated Diaz and Katsidis. Easy for you to say but would not be easy for JMM to do. How about we wait and see if JMM fight guys above 135 first.
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
I was never a Hatton fan and thought he was overrated, but he is bigger and stronger than guys like Katsidis and Juan Diaz. Beating Katsidis and Juan Diaz doesn't mean you beat another bigger and stronger guy at another division.
And just because Pacquiao did it, doesn't mean JMM can do it also. By that logic JMM can be good over 140+ and beat guys like Cotto, Clottey, and Margarito because you know his rival did it and JMM beat guys like Diaz and Katsidis.
Re: Who did better agaisnt Floyd?
julius,
silly goose, ;D there is a BIG difference between a mayweather jr. and hatton. although hatton took mayweather jr. into the later rounds, so what! mayweather jr. is a patient boxer. ricky hatton has the style marquez loves to fight against. a come forward, slow guy with little skills and no defense. the reason hatton was so successful in his career was that the fighters he fought didn't know how to handle his pressure and wilted like little lillies. marquez is a very smart fighter and would work up a great gameplan to beat hatton convincingly. i can just see hatton trying to pressure marquez, ala katsidis, and get masterfully broken down and either beaten by TKO or losing a wide UD.
