That literraly could be said about every single fighter ever before they stepped up. He deserves his shot and should get it, he stepped aside once already. . You say who has he fought, well other than collazo and quintana who the hell has berto fought? Sorry urango at147 doesn't count. I mean who had martinez fought up till 2 years ago???
what i mean though is who has Aykin fought to be ranked so highly, he hasn't even really fought B level fighters, so who's to say he deserves a shot at any title? it was Berto and i called his WBC title win a complete farce and still stand by it
Wins against Ouali, Bonsu and Dan are all decent wins (though the Dan fight was an out right robbery). He's done it the WBC way not the fans way. What has Ortiz done? Quit against Maidana, beat up some shot guys and a light weight, drew with Peterson and let Peterson off the hook rather than finish him

wins against guys like Maussa, Campbell, Harris, and what should have been a win over Peterson, are alot more than what Aykin has accomplished, also he's a bigger draw than Aykin especially in Vegas or California, as for the Maidana fight apart from the result lets not forget he gave him hell, and that's the same Maidana that had Khan out on his feet in the last few rounds of their fight

Maussa was never much cop other than his one puncher over Harris, Campbell was a Lightweight, Harris had lost 2 of his last 3 or something silly. All those fights were at 140, fighting at 140 won't get you a mandatory position at 147. Popularity shouldn't matter. If Ortiz wan't Berto either get himself into a mandatory position or offer it when a voluntary comes up.

Maussa went further with both Cotto and Hatton, Ortiz sparked him in 1, Harris was giving Matthyse hell and was given a bs stoppage loss IMO, and Campbell's only bad showing was against Bradley, and hell it's only popularity that's getting Manny Pacquiao title shots at Jr. Welter, Welter, and Jr Middle, so why not anyone else

Campbell look old against Bradley and has since been beaten by Walter Estrada. Campbell is shot!
Their was serious calls for Harris to retire after the fight with Nos Bolanos where the guy basically collapsed.
Maussa had been out of the ring for a year and was on a 2 fight losing streak. Hardly fair compare like for like.
Pacquiao is getting voluntary shots due to the money he brings, Ortiz is wanting to leap frong a mandatory

if you want to break that down, we could do the same to Berto's wins, Quintana already was KO'd by Cotto and Williams, Collazo robbed, and Urango was a Jr Welterweight not a welterweight, he won the title from a joke of an opponent, so that would basically bring down Berto to Ortiz's "level", again Victor Ortiz is a bigger name than Aykin so it makes more sense financially and either way you yourself said that Aykin got a gift against Dan, Haye wasn't selling out arenas or getting PPV slots and he managed to earn a HW title after beating a bum in Barrett, so it's justified that Pacquiao gets title shots without being a mandatory due to money, yet Ortiz can't even though he'll bring more money to the table than Aykin, interesting...

I do think Berto's a very lucky guy to be a champion and should fight a prime 147 lb'er, not another small guy from 140. Aydin has won his mandatory position, Ortiz shouldn't be allowed to leap frog that. Pacquiao, to the best of my knowledge isn't leap frogging mandatories. Ortiz may bring more money than the Turk but he doesn't deserve to leap frog a mandatory, even if the judges in the Turks last fight were garbage.

just cause Ortiz is moving up from 140 doesn't mean he's a small guy, it's the exact opposite, the guy is massive for 140, Pacquiao isn't leap frogging mandatory opponents but he's getting title shots while not even being ranked at that weight class instead of the #1 and #2 guy getting their shot, it's the same damn thing
