Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
OA anyone?
The only times that Morales looks really 'terrible' were againts Pac who has freakish speed. The so so prepared version of Morales was even able to beat David Diaz.
Morales beat Alfaro who kayoed Corley the same Corley who gave a modest account againts Maidana. Yeah he doesnt look super elite in his last 3 W. But who is Maidana anyway? Yeah it looks like he has great power but will he just overwhelm Morales? He didnt even do it againts someone with a glass chin.
46 Yr. old Evander Holyfield was given a chance againts WBA Champion Valuev. Erik is 12 yrs younger than that.

One look at Maidana's past fights and it shows he scores his stoppages by accumulation. Obviously it's not in Morales best interest to trade with Maidana. And I don't see him doing that. But if he were get caught, I think he'll take the punch. A faded Morales still takes a better punch than Con
I want what you are smoking.
Morales is so shot. He can't even erect himself on his spaghetti legs when he gets punched lightly. He is going to try to do a repeat performance like Khan, but it is not going to work. He sees blueprint, adn I just see roadkill.
Khan took huge shots from Maidana.
And if you don't think Maidana has 1 punch power. watch round 1 of Maidana/Ortiz again, round 10 or Maidana/Khan or watch him pummel Cayo in 6 with powerful bodywork.
Khan was in the best shape of his life for the Maidana fight, and it showed. My hat goes off to him for a gutsy performance.
I did. Ortiz got up. Con survived. Thank you for proving my point. I'm not saying he don't hit hard. Just saying he needs accumulation to get his stoppages. The rest has done Morales good. People gonna point to his recent fights and say he hasn't looked great. That's fine. Morales don't care. He don't do shit for others sake. He does shit for himself. He's always been like that. He knew he could beat Lorenzo, Alfaro and Limond just by going through the motions. So that's pretty much what he did. Damn the critics. He don't care. Morales ain't stupid. He knows he can't beat Maidana fighting the way he did the others. He's a proud man. He ain't going out there to lay down or make a fool of himself. He's going there to win.
Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
i do think erik is confident of winning this, i dont think this is just a money fight considering maidana is not a popular fighter anyway.

He didnt beat Diaz and thats the point that if he couldnt even beat Diaz back in the day when he still had abit of ability left then what chance does this older slower version have against a bigger better fighter in Maidana.
Maybe he has seen something he can exploit but if the Limond fight is anything to go by Erik doesnt have much left.
Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
Eric may box for a bit but will eventually get caught and stopped. I really hope I am wrong.
Re: EDIT: Morales - Maidana is done deal
He'll be alright. He may have warrior mentality. But he knows when to quit.

I'm sorry, but is that a rhetorical question? Or you really want me to answer that?

I know what you're saying, but the day after that fight, not one person posting on this forum thought Diaz won that fight. It was a hometown decision. The then boxing news editor Claude Abrams, who's opinion is highly respected, scored that fight by 5 points to Morales. It wasn't close, and is one of the worst robberies ever. Morales won that fight by a country mile. I had it 117-110 for Erik, and I was stunned because I thought Diaz would stop him.

Only fight Morales has ever quit in was the third fight with Manny Pacqauio. And that was only after giving his all and being dropped three times. It was futile to continue and Morales realized it.

Indeed I do. Your from the UK. So I don't expect you to understand. But know this. It's a fact that if Morales-Diaz would of took place anywhere else but Diaz's home city of Chicago, Morales is a 4 division champion. No doubt what so ever. Cuz while fight was competitive it really ain't that hard to score. For one that knows how to score that is

You're a dumb Yank so I dont expect you to be able to spell. Erik got beat by a bum because he was washed up. Accept it.
