Re: Braehmer withdraws from Cleverly fight
He also pulled out of a fight with Lakatos.
Damn...I was looking forward to this
Re: Cleverly-Braehmer OFF/My bet for sky box office this saturday
Here's Frank Warren on it. I don't understand why they didn't tell them of the "injury" to begin with rather than say he'd missed the flight and would come today (Wednesday) instead
Warren blasts no-show Braehmer | Sky Sports | Boxing | News

Frank Warren has criticised Juergen Braehmer after the WBO champion pulled out of Saturday's light-heavyweight title fight with Nathan Cleverly.
The German withdrew from the clash after an apparent eye injury suffered in training 10 days ago failed to heal sufficiently.
But promoter Warren now hopes the WBO strip Braehmer of his title, which he has defended just once since winning it in 2009.
Warren, who only heard the news via internet reports from Germany this morning and when Braehmer's team cancelled their boxer's hotel booking, is waiting to speak to the Puerto Rico-based WBO later on Tuesday.
He hopes that they have taken action and upgraded Cleverly from 'interim' to full champion status.
"I couldn't give a s*** what happens to him after (he is stripped). He's nuts, the guy."
Frank Warren
Quotes of the week
"What we believe will happen - we're just waiting for official confirmation - is that Nathan will be declared champion and we're looking for an opponent for him to defend against on Saturday," said the promoter.
Talking
"We hope we will have a name before the close of business today. We are talking to a few fighters who have got good records and are ranked. It's just a matter of trying to agree terms with one of them."
Warren revealed he sent a driver to collect Braehmer from the airport on Tuesday but he did not turn up, claiming he had missed his plane and would arrive on Wednesday instead.
However Braehmer, who also pulled out of a January unification fight with Beibut Shumenov, did not arrive on Wednesday morning and Warren then heard via the internet that the fight was off.
"Eventually we were told by Universum (Braehmer's promoters) that he was out due to a cut eye," Warren said.
"We received a medical from him two days ago and he didn't have a cut eye two days ago, yet I think it was the German newspaper Bild who said it's a cut that is one and a half weeks old and has opened up again. Well, it's not in his medical.
"It's disgraceful, what's happened here. It really is the bad side of the sport. Something needs to be done about it and I'll obviously be complaining to the WBO but because of the time difference we have not managed to speak to anybody there."
Warren added: "What's even more disgusting is reading about it on the internet.
"At the moment all I want is the WBO to do what they have said they would do and strip this guy, because it's not the first time he's done this. He has a track record for it. He's a let-down."

Looks like it is going to be Bellew.
Just has 6lbs to lose before Friday's weigh in.
Says he can do it no problem.
Re: Cleverly-Braehmer OFF/My bet for sky box office this saturday
Bellew is the best option by miles at this stage. Shame it's such short notice though, and i'd be surprised if Warren puts two of his own unbeaten prospects against each other.
But at least with Bellew he can punch and is a bit mental. That makes a good chance of entertainment.

I doubt very much he will put Bellew in With Cleverly. Warren will go with an unknown ranked opponent.
Bellews punch resistance is rubbish.

Is it still Box Office or have they dropped it down to regular Sky Sports?

Re: Cleverly-Braehmer OFF/My bet for sky box office this saturday
Bellew as much as I love him would get fucked up with 10 weeks prep for Clev, the guy is a top lad and has balls of steel but I think he is getting knocked out within 6.

This could end early for me, Tony struggles to make 175 on a normal basis, and his chin has looked shaky recently I think alot down to making 175, so a rush job to make 175 this weekend could be a disaster, but Tony is a fucking warrior he would of took this fight on 10 mins notice.
Might have to see what odds this is to end rnds 1-3.

He believes too much in his power. Hes only been fighting run of the mill journey men has been dropped left right and centre and doesnt have a very high KO percentage for someone who is supposedly a big puncher against bums.
Also, with his thin frame, he should piss that weight. Justnotbeing trained right, or hard enough.
Clevery will walk all over him and stop him at about the 4 th. With Bellew being a prospect, Warren will not want to see him take a beating and will probably get the fight stopped between rounds to save him. If Cleverly doesnt do the job first.

To me his power is all he has. Cleverly is going to stop him early. The real 175 king will be crowned later on in the evening though. The oldest ever world Champion Bernard Hopkins!!
