Re: Making a try to turn pro at age 48
I maintain my original argument that it probably isn't a great idea, but part of me too would love the idea of at least going through with it. Just train hard for six weeks and then get beaten up by someone. At least you can say, 'I gave it a shot' which is more than most can say. It takes serious balls to fight and to do it so late on. Everybody dies full of regrets, to have a few regrets less is an achievement.

You are very much like a Pit Bull you don't give in I like that, ;D Brockton is having a mid-life crisis as we all do I could under stand if he wanted to paint or write a book, older you go the less resilient you are healing from injury. And if you are really honest the training would be to much, by the time he got fit or if he got fit , yes go to a gym have a little spar he may get in there and say this is not for me.
Going pro is a foolish thing when you have lived the good life, all that training and going with out the good thing in life is not for ever one is it Ross.Brockton write a book and Ross you need to think about
becoming a trainer.;D
Re: Making a try to turn pro at age 48
Boxing is seldom not a profession that you should do unless you have no other choice in your life. It takes no prisoners, is harmful to your health and most likely end up badly at your age. Take part in training, sparring and amateur bouts as a taster. Should you still survive then consider it as a profession.

Make the speed bag a small goal for yourself. Get profficient on it. You will be pleased you put the effort in and use the same motivation for everything you arent good at or dont like.

Hey Brockton, just curious. How much boxing experience have you had prior to this, and when was it?
Or have you been doing it off and on over a period of years?
As for me, I've had very little.. or shall we say slim to no experience prior to about 3 years ago, and even that training was pretty lacking. Now that I'm finally at a better gym and doing sparring, I'm still finding it takes a lot of getting used to.
