Re: Emmanuel Steward appreciation thread
Dead or Alive Manny Steward is a boxing legend! He's brought titles to plenty of fighters who wouldn't have gotten there without his help. It is my hope, whatever the news, that Jonathan Banks continue his studies to become a legendary trainer like his mentor Manny is. I've got nothing but respect for the man, great boxing mind, brought out the best in some really great fighters.
Re: Emmanuel Steward appreciation thread
Dan Rafael has said Manny is "gravely ill" but apparently still with us on his twitter page.

Emanuel Steward 1944-2012: A Legend Passes Away - Boxing News
Just looked it up and read this article to confirm.
Tragic as we were unaware he was so sick until just a few months ago. Feels like it came on all of a sudden, tho I'm sure he knew it for some time now the tough old goat.
Def didn't agree with him on everything, but the proof is in the pudding and my God did the man have a staple of champions.
HBO, boxing, fans, fighters, everyone is going to miss him dearly.
R.I.P. Manny.

Feel really gutted about this one :-\ I think due to the way it played out we all kinda hoped that the stories were way off target. A great boxing man, a great man. Will be sadly missed. RIP Manny.
These pictures say it all for me. Class in session boys.

Terrible man...
May he rest in peace.
Re: Emmanuel Steward appreciation thread
Very sad news. The sport we love had suffered a great loss. R.I.P.
Re: Emmanuel Steward appreciation thread
Huge, huge loss. It's almost beyond words how sad it is to have this man pass away. He was a familiar face on TV for a lot of boxing events... and you couldn't ask for a nicer person. Not only that... he was boxing royalty. He was a trainer without equal, a track record to be envied. Such a loss at such a relatively young age. Oh my goodness.
Rest in peace, Emmanuel. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.
:(

From Wladimir Klitschko today on the Klitschkos' facebook page:
Quote:
Boxing has suffered a tremendous loss with the passing of Emanuel Steward.
Vitali and I, along with the entire Team Klitschko, send our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to Emanuel's family and friends.
It is not often that a person in any line of work gets a chance to work with a legend, well I was privileged enough to work with one for almost a decade.
I will miss our time together. The long talks about boxing, the world, and life itself. Most of all I will miss our friendship.
My team and I will carry on with the goals we had set while Emanuel was with us because that is exactly what Emanuel would have wanted. I know he will be with us in spirit along the way and we will accomplish these goals in his honor.
Rest in peace Emanuel. You will be greatly missed.
Until we meet again my friend.
