WHOA! WHOA! WHOA! WHOA!
Wait a fckn minute!!!!
When did exactly did Pac become "a faded" former P4P champ?
Officially yes he lost to Bradley.
General sensus is he beat him one sidedly. Possibly only losing 3/4 rouds if you were generous to Bradley.
You are the first person which I read this comment from.
Please enlighten me when and where he started fading.
Cuz prior to Bradley he was on 15 fight winning streak. (Regardless how one saw the actual result of fights vs. JMM)

+1
Marquez turned the boxing world upside down.
Re: Who is fighter of the year ?
Carl Froch no doubt about it, (Brit bias obviously). Having said that whoever suggested Nathan Cleverley was clearly avin a giraffe.
Re: Who is fighter of the year ?
The only people that are legitimate contenders for fighter of the year are Juan Manuel Marquez, Danny Garcia, and Nonito Donaire. Assuming Donaire wins tonight, his activity has to make him the favorite. Add to it that he is the only boxer doing year-round, random drug testing, and it's hard not to root for the guy.
Re: Who is fighter of the year ?
The year is not over yet. I mean Khan has to fight again yet.
Re: Who is fighter of the year ?
Marquez is fucking 39 years old and jumped 2 weight divisions to lay out a guy who has dominated weight class after weight class, was a consensus P4P #2 and hasn't been knocked out since 1999. Marquez is fighter of the year. He just shocked the shit out of the boxing world. No debate is required here.
Re: Who is fighter of the year ?
Marquez, simple as that.
Broner & Paulie shouldn't have even been mentioned in this list. :shakehead:

So you think one punch in a fight everyone had him behind in outshines what Santa Cruz or Donaire have done this year. I do not think so.
Donaire did what was expected. Arce doesn't have it anymore. Nishioka retired straight after and he only just won an SD. LSC has had a fantastic year, but who has he beaten? Beating Manny by KO was just stunning. He was only behind by 1 point on most people's scorecards. Say Manny had gotten up, he wouldn't have been behind anymore.

Part of me agrees and it kills me how Guerrero is overlooked also. I think what gets it for Marquez is impeccable timing. Not only did he do this in December but its who he did it to.
Re: Who is fighter of the year ?
JMM for sure. That ONE win outweights anything any other fighter has done this year IMO. That win has more significance not only in this year, but in boxing history.
Huge KO win over an ATG legend.

I think it does. I would take a brutal KO win over Pacquaio, a guy who people were talking about as a top 5 guy of all time not too long ago, over all 4 of Donaire's fights for sure.
That was the most historically significant victory in a long time.

That's the argument for it. Marquez fought twice and only one opponent was ranked. He had fought Pacquiao three other times so this was his fourth shot at Pacquiao. Donaire fought four times this year, against new opponents. Donaire unified titles. Donaire was moving up in weight. Donaire had a stunning stoppage too, also in December, and beat the lineal champion of his new weight class by knockout as well. It's a close race, in which I vote Donaire.
Let me pose a question. If Marquez had only won on the cards, would you still feel this way? Or was it the stunning knockout that did it?
Here is from Bad Left Hook:
I know, I know: He was expected to win and he did, big whoop. Arce was tailor-made for him, big whoop. Here's the big whoop: When's the last time you saw anyone considered by everyone who keeps or doesn't keep or doesn't admit to keeping a P4P list (even just a mental one, only in the air and their brains, tucked away from the world's prying eyes and criticism) to be a top P4P fighter fight not just four times in one year, but against four fighters all ranked in the top ten, in a division that said fighter was not even a part of coming into the year? There is no argument about this, in my view. Nonito Donaire (31-1, 20 KO) is the 2012 Fighter of the Year.
