Re: Why is Ward so against Froch-Kessler 2??
Ward is so against Froch-Kessler 2 because there aren't any other money-making fights at 168 for him other than Froch or Kessler. He is out of options. And no, Pavlik wasn't an option. Ward-Pavlik would have been the most lop-sided "big" fight since I don't know when.
Kessler is the only blemish on Froch's record besides Ward. It makes perfect sense that Froch would want to try to avenge a loss against Kessler. It also makes sense to attempt to avenge the loss against Kessler before avenging his loss against Ward. Ward is a more difficult fight than Kessler. The best business decision for Froch would be to beat Kessler in a rematch, rematch and beat Bute, and only then face Ward.

No, I think business wise id go for Ward now while Froch is still relatively fresh. He seemed to have realised that he needed to start faster like he did against Bute. A Kessler fight now and its another war and possibly Froch loses a step. If he loses to Ward, he wont get beat up, he still has the Bute rematch and again Butes team will be hoping that with him coming off a loss hes an easy target. Beat Bute again, or Abraham, become a belt holder again, then the big money fight with Kessler.
I think another Kessler fight will slow Froch down a tad and put more wear on his aging body. Hes not Calzaghe that adapted his style with age to be more of a boxer than a fighter. Froch doesnt have that speed or work rate. All he has is his strength and aggression. At the least I could see Froch getting a draw by just letting his hands go rather than trying to match Wards skill and letting him hold.

Hearn said he wants Kessler in May or June and then Ward in November. I wonder what Bute will have to say about this?
froch will be doing bute a favour if he fights these other guys first. bute needs to work on his defense before he takes on a challenge like froch again. he didn't show any improvement in his last fight and i think he knows the outcome of a fight with froch would be the same at this point. maybe in a year if bute really work improving his defense.
Re: Why is Ward so against Froch-Kessler 2??
I do not think Ward is worried about Froch and Kessler taking the limelight from him. Ward is the best super middle without any doubt as he has comprehensively beaten both.
Ward is just taking his time whilst Froch and Kessler beat each other up. Ward is skilled but not a hard puncher and therefore not the most exciting fighter. Ward methodically beats his opponents up. This injury will be a set back for him but he has time on his side the Pavlik fighter was just a keep busy and earn some money fight.

I hate to break it to you: Froch isn't going to beat Ward. It's not just in the cards. Froch is riding a big wave now, stemming from the Bute win. He might as well maximize the number of opportunities he has in big fights. A loss to Ward or Kessler would derail his trajectory. However, Froch has a better chance of beating Kessler than he does Ward. Many thought he beat Kessler the first time around. If it is close again, but Froch wins, maybe they do a third. He should also have a repeat victory over Bute. Then lose against Ward and it doesn't matter as far as big fights go.

Froch would have stopped Dawson alot earlier than Ward did and it would have been a shot to the chin too. As I recall, Dawson took a shot to the stomach and quit. Froch wouldnt ha e given him the chance to quit.
Frochs win over Bute is a thousand times mor impressive than Wards over Dawson.
Seriously what exactly has Bute accomplished that impressed you so much? To say a win over him beats a win over Dawson is just straight moronic. Dawson is not the most exciting fighter and really I don't care much for him. But he's way more accomplished than Bute. You can say Froch exposed Bute. That's fine. But really it ain't saying much. One good look at his hand picked oppositions One good look at his tough fights. And one good look at the excuses given for not being in the Super 6 and the answer is clear. He's a skilled fighter with a below average chin and not much heart. What Froch did to him Ward, Kessler and Dawson could of done to. Really Bute is the Romania version of Allen Green

Just came across this looking for an old degale thread as hes fighting soon.
My points are all in the post you seem to have ignored of mine but ill add that unlike Dawson, Bute was rated by many to be the top fighter in the division, he had an awkward southpaw style and power and none of the other champs really fancied fighting him. It was a make or break fight for Froch to take but really he had no choice. Dawson who had been beaten soundly by Pascal draining down a weight is not an impressive win at all. No way near what Froch did. Froch would have done the same as he did to Bute, to Dawson, probably quicker too.
Froch and Kessler both fought Ward wrong. Any rematch and they just need to up the pace and work consistently. As Bika proved, Ward doesnt like pressure. Ward looked dog shit in the last couple of rounds against Bika. Neither Froch or Kessler have ever looked that vulnerable in a fight, having to hold and maul constantly for fear of being stopped.
Re: Why is Ward so against Froch-Kessler 2??
froch fought kessler in denmark, kessler is fighting froch in england
froch fought ward in america, ?

I don't see the problem with Froch-Kessler 2 in the slightest it was a lot more exciting that Froch-Ward or Kessler-Ward and it was a very close fight. I don't see any problem with Froch wanting to avenge the loss and Froch is highly rated after battering Bute. Ward is fighting Pavlik, how is that a good fight?
I have no doubt that if Froch can beat Kessler he would love to fight Ward again, why does Ward think Froch wouldn't want this rematch too? Froch has said on many occasions he wants the rematch but after Kessler. I think Ward is annoyed because he's not in the limelight.
My opinion is he's jelous, he hasn't lost a fight since he was 14, BUT Nobody gives a shit about him. If he retires tomorrow not too many people will care.
I certainly wouldn't.
Yet 2 guys he's already beaten is MASSIVELY boring fashion are having their second fight and the rematch will likely be the the fight of the year.
Mayweather? Bullshit, his fights are generally boring to me too, although he'll make more money.
For boxing fans Froch/Kessler has to be the biggest fight this year.
Unless Canelo/Floyd happens.
