Easy with hindsight - but it was only a matter of time before he got ironed out.
I do not know if they faded, I wrote this only a couple of weeks ago:

In this era, particularly amongst Heavyweights Price's age is no issue. He had a solid amateur career, and has shown continued improvement as his career has gone on. And although he has had too few fights IMO, he has reached a level you would expect in his four year career, that of domestic champion and matching up with fringe top ten fighters.
The brothers Klitschko are not getting any younger, and there is no real talent on the horizon that looks like they can fill the power vacuum left when the Klitschko's go. Thus Price just might be in the right place, at the right time.
The only real thing I have against Price at the moment, is that nagging doubt about his chin...
I suspect I was hardly alone in being concerned about Price's chops...
You certainly wasn't alone.
All i'm saying is - The upside of impressively ironing fighters out was enough to take attention off his achilles heel. I think that's a reasonable observation to make.
(I backed Audley, Sexton and Fat John to KO him. I didn't back Thompson)

Ouch;D What kind of odds would you have gotten on a Thompson KO anyways, do you recall? Or just overall, was he a massive underdog?
Re: David price has no chin
A half punch from a good puncher and David folded like a deck of cards , its not the getting knocked out , it happens in HW boxing , it was the way he went down , the punch didnt look that big a shot , its difficult to see how Price will get over this .
He needs to get back in the ring as soon as possible , he can KO any fighter in europe if he hits them cleanly , however at world level at some point he will be tagged , and that is a big worry for the Price camp.
Re: David price has no chin
A lot of similarities with Amir Khan really. Great amateur pedigree. Good boxer, solid puncher. No chin.

i agree
and like khan price will probably become world champ and defend the title but will get sparked again one day
Re: David price has no chin
That's HW boxing for you. Unless you last name is McCall, Chuvalo or Mercer you certainly can be stopped with one punch. We're talking about a 250lb guy who really only lost to Wlad before, with 25 KO's in 37 wins. You get hit with the right punch from a guy like that and you're going on your ass, no question.
Price is at a crossroads now that we've seen HUNDREDS of fighters at before. Either he'll learn from the experience and become better for it, or he'll go to shit before he really even hit his prime. Hopefully it's the former, as HW boxing really needs a big, strong guy like him in the ranks.

Thompson's Theorem states that the waves of rolling fat produced by punches are acting as shock absorbers. It's a radical concept, but seems to be working for Thompson.
Thompson says he's going to pack another 30-40 pounds and make another run at Wlad.
Yeah...
Hopefully Areola, Tua, Toney etc dont follow Thompsons example;D

Exactly. I cant believe how fast boxers get shit canned these days. It was his 15th fight or something against a cagey vet left hander who caught him with a punch he didn't see. That is boxing. That is why we tune in. The unknown. In addition the punch landed on the ear/temple area not his chin. I'd wager that shots to that area have caused as many stoppages as those on the button. Again Sanders caught Wlad with a very similar punch. Wlad has been down almost as many times as Patterson and he has now been undefeated in 10 plus years and is closing in on Louis. I'm not a fan of Price but dam cut the guy some slack.

I do see your point , however Thompson isn't a real dangerous puncher like sanders. And this wasn't a monster punch, I'm not giving up on price but it was worrying the way he got one punch koed from an ordinary looking punch.
Re: David price has no chin
That was a turn up for the books. I expected Price to take the guy out in about 5 rounds.
Funny, really. Price is a massive guy, with decent boxing skills but he seemed to have started to believe the hype that he was a destroyer. He looked pretty cumbersome in there, was going in straight lines and was winging hooks ...... exacly the way to leave yourself open to a counterpuncher like thomson.
I'm not going to write the guy off (Jack Dempsey got starched in a round on his way up, Louis took a prolonged beating against Schmeling) and when one big guy hits another big guy, anybody can knock anybody out really.
I'll give price the benefit of the doubt, it didnt look like a big shot, but I wasnt the one taking it. If it perforated his eardrum, his balance would have been all over the place.
Nothing too wrong with being a bit chinny, what Price needs to do is sharpen up his discipline so that he doesnt get caught with shots like that. That tactic worked pretty well for Wlad.

About 10/1
I seriously didn't fancy him though, which is hilarious considering I backed Brit level guys to KO Price (;D)

Agreed but looks can be deceiving and that was a 260 pound plus man who caught him perfect. Even his legs were not ready for it or shall I say his feet were in the wrong place. He did look a little Carnera in there almost like he looked past Thompson towards the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Hopefully he learns, dust himself off and gets on with it. I also think he should go for an immediate rematch and not take on some soft touch. After all Thompson was supposed to be a soft touch.
Cheers
