I don't like the guy but he fought this way against Rees and Paulie purely because he didn't respect them. That kind of mindset might catch up with him eventually, but for now, there's still no blueprint. That said, he could simply get stretched out by some of the 140's/147's out there - but something tells me Broner has many more levels to go to.
It's certainly possible you're right, but when he's losing rounds in the process you'd think he would gain a little bit of respect surely:confused: It's not as though Paulie just couldn't hurt him and that's that, he was giving Broner a lot to think about and it didn't seem to light a fire under the guy at any point. The fight was a lot closer than it should have been if Broner does in fact have these other gears which he appears he should.
Yeah it was bizarre to watch really. The fight was as close as Broner let it get really. Maybe there is something in the story about him asking Paulie (a few years ago mind) how he manages to go 12 rounds all the time. Like Broner is worried about taking too much out of the tank?
Whatever it was, it was strange to see because the difference level in talent was quite wide imo and i thought he would have wanted to push for the stoppage or at least gone for a shut out.
For the record, i had Broner winning fairly comfortably. I think i scored it 116-112. There was certainly some rounds which were open for interpretation but i felt that on a few occasions Paulie was winning the round on work rate alone, and then Broner would snap his head back a couple of times. Fine margins anyway, and any elite level fighter should really be putting daylight between himself and guys like Paulie.
Be interesting to see what he does next.
