He's like a poor man's Michael Grant

I would go further; he is like a Beggar's Michael Grant. Grant showed an ability in his pomp to beat fringe contenders.
Anyone now in the top 25 to 10 Heavyweights in the world, should be desperate A) Wilder gets through this fight with a win, and B) that he signs to fight them next. A very good money fight, with minimal risk for anyone who even resembles world class.
Can't please everyone.
Wilder is being moved at a pace his handlers think is good for him. We can only truly assess the situation when we see the outcome of this strategy. We've seen other fringe contenders step up and lose recently: Chisora, Solis, Price, Mitchell, and I think after seeing those guys go through what they've gone through maybe his trainers feel it takes too much time to get to where he needs to be if he loses?
You have to remember, this is a guy from Alabama, not exactly the boxing Mecca of New York, New Jersey, California, or Las Vegas. He's big, he's raw, he need experience, he needs rounds, he needs to be tested but tested slowly. I think he's learning more in training camps than he is in the ring right now but eventually that needs to change.
If I was Wilder's trainer, I'd eventually want to see a win on points for no other reason than to see him do it. Liakhovich should be an early to mid rounds KO win...he's going to fight with a lot of heart though he always does and who knows what happens if Sergei catches him clean?
I think damn near everyone HOPES Wilder is "the real deal", but we're very apprehensive about whether or not he is just yet. I don't think the fight vs Sergei is going to prove much though...if it proves anything it'll probably be more negatives about Wilder than positives because we already know Deontay can punch.
Chisoras step up to Fury he probably didn't see as a step up and that's why he didn't train. His real step up was against Helenius and was robbed. He then put a good performance against Vitali. His stock went up with these defeats and have impressed me a lot more the. Wilders wins.
What time is wilder on???
Charlo v Smith should have a fast pace, think distance. Just hope Smith doesn't yell and bark every time he throws. Comes in unofficial middleweight..absurd
That was a good knockout for Charlo. Smith deserved to have that done.
Brandon Bennett is led to the ring by Broner who thinks he can rap and needs to pull his pants up. Francisco Vargas looks all business
I like Bennets movement off straight shots. Vargas really tracking him down in 2nd, lands good right and Bennett holds at end. Nice round!
Bennett went from boxing in round 1 to retreating in round 2
I've already soured on Bennett.
Less holding from Bennett in that round
