Exactly. Was a good fight but I don't think it was even fight of the weekend let alone the year. I though Mollo-Spzilka 2 was more entertaining then the Geale fight.

Again its horses for courses. The Mollo fight was entertaining and a bit of a laugh but both guys are toilet. Barker Geale was a better fight all around for me. The fact that someone didnt get smeared across the canvass further endorses it rather than detracts from it.

NO!! The fight was boring. The talk AFTER the fight was more exciting than the fight itself.

There were so many great fights past weekend that I totally forgot about that one. Yup, I also thought the Molla fight was better than Geale-Barker.

It was the best weekend of the year in Boxing that's for sure.

It wasn't picked up by the British broadcast (SKY). I couldn't believe it watching HBO, who picked it up straight away, Cotton telling Geale he has 5 minutes, the look on Barker's face when he tells him to keep 'em up said it all, he was totally confused too. And to be fair to Roy, he laughed at himself for keep making the mistake instead of trying to style it out. Great stuff. ;D

I agree man. The whole time I kept thinking how these two guys would never have fought for a world title in the 90s or even in the earlier 2ks... Two very ordinary guys ..

This fight told me one thing. Golovkin and Quillin would dominate them in a total mismatch.

I put Barker and Geale in the same bracket as Gabe Rosado..

It was a great fight. It's always good when you see two guys with little power decide to brawl. Lots of punches thrown and landed.

The thread starter (ICB) said - "I haven't been following boxing for a few months, this is the best fight I've seen." His personal opinion on what he's seen. Get a grip.

(Here's some advice - Try watching fights without knowing the result. Hope this helps.)

It was a great fight. Both guys gave it their all. Geale was classier in spots, but Barker had a little bit more drive to win. I thought Barker edged the fight, but it was close and could have gone either way.

What a card! Martinez-Romero, Kovalev-Cleverly, and Geale-Barker -- all three of them were fun fights.

I wouldn't say this was fight of the year. I agree though that it was an excellent scrap between two solid, top ten middleweights.

Barker getting up from that liver shot and going on to the win the fight should be his career-defining moment. What a terrific display of courage and heart.

I don't really understand why you continue to put Quillin in the same bracket as GGG. You know we agree on most things, but what has Quillin done to deserve that praise? I don't intend to put him down, as he might be all that and tax, but he is incredibly inactive and he has only one really solid win at middleweight, against a guy, N'Jikam, that actually out-boxed him for most of the rounds. Quillin comes off as a nice guy. No disrespect, but to loop him in the same group as the top guys, based on his win over N'Jikam is a bit far-fetched. Right?

It was an engrossing fight, but these guys were too limited for it to be a real FOTY. There was too much clinching for a start. What made it exciting, was the KD, and the comeback. That alone doesn't make it better than the Bradley fight which was far more exciting.

If the judges had've given Barker some of the rounds he clearly one, then that would not be relevant. You can't pick one round's judging as being the deciding factor in a fight.

How Barker got up from that shot I have no idea. Divine Intervention is I can think of!

I know what you said dude, but it WAS NOT the deciding factor. Just because it was the 12th and final round doesn't make it the deciding factor, all 12 rounds have to be judged and any 1 round, be it round 1 or round 12 being scored wrong could be deemed the deciding factor.

Anybody saying this is a boring fight doesn't know boxing.

Lol, yes it was..Because 2 judges somehow had Barker needing that round to win. It shouldn't have been the case, but if that 12th round had been scored for Geale, Barker wouldn't have got the decision. Did you see the scorecards? They were posted in this thread. Don't know how to make that any clearer:-\

The 6th and 12th rounds were the easiest in that whole fight to score is what makes it weird, only reason I posted all that. I think there was only one other round Geale won hands down, yet somehow he doesn't get the last one and it's still very close. Just crap judging as usual.
