Calzaghe for his part had dismissed Froch saying, "Enough is enough with Carl Froch calling me out,” Calzaghe told the South Wales Argus. “I can tell you categorically that I will not fight the guy even if I did come out of retirement, which I am not going to do..."I am sick to death of him drumming up free publicity for himself by using my name,” Calzaghe said. “No one who watched the fight can believe he’s in my class. He’s my stalker."..."For the first eight rounds against Taylor he was like a goalkeeper with no defense. He was being outclassed and outfought by a middleweight who’s seen better days."
HOWEVER...Here's the truth about Calzaghe:
You know who is overrated? Joe Calzaghe is overrated. Sure he beat Roy Jones, and Bernard Hopkins, but both those guys are past their respective primes, meaning he beat faded legends. If he'd have fought them in their primes, he'd have gone 0-2, or 1-1 at best.
Calzaghe has built his record having been sheltered in England, and fighting fringe contenders, never-will-be's, over-hyped stars, and as I mentioned already, faded legends. If that's not the definition of overrated, I don't know what is. he is the msot overated boxer of all time, he stayed in england and cardiff dodging boxers then came over and beat a 41 year old roy jones junior and a bernard hopkins who was passed his best, he did beat kessler and that was a good achievement and beat an overated jeff lacy, but other than that he was well overated, he ducked pavlik and froch instead he fought peter manfredo!!!
I'm surprised you haven't been burned at the stake over this.
Really? because that in itself is a myth that you invented and then spent 16 pages trolling about whilst avoiding the first post that wholly disproved your argument about Froch being more likeable. http://www.saddoboxing.com/boxingfor...light=Calzaghe You dismissed Calzaghes career after admitting only watching the Hopkins and Manfredo fights and then when people suggested you might have come to a different conclusion if you had actually watched more boxing you came up with the idea that dissing Calzaghe was somehow sacrilegious. We get it you don't rate him. It's no big deal.
I don't fancy Brocks chances of not getting a shovel across the back of the head though when he visits Dia. That's if the locals don't overhear him and then manage to convince him to have a look inside any giant wicker statues.;D

Really? I went back and checked, and.... maybe it's just me. But the 16 pages are hardly filled exclusively with MY posts. Hardly what I'd call "trolling". Don't you think? Matter of fact, many of the initial responses agreed with my premise at the time. I do remember, though, seeing you begin a personal war with Althugz over the issue.
And whereas others get a free pass by calling Calzaghe "overrated", you're more offended by MY personal notion that Froch is more likeable as a fighter than Calzaghe. Weird, isn't it? Because not being as likeable as another fighter is soooo much worse than being called "overrated". It's as if you react to the same comments differently, depending on who they are coming from. But please continue being inexplicably drawn to MY comments. I've come to expect it.
As you said.... no big deal.
re: Joe Calzaghe is the 2nd most overrated fighter of all time. Rocky Marciano is no.1
No Tito, of course it is not what you would call trolling.
re: Joe Calzaghe is the 2nd most overrated fighter of all time. Rocky Marciano is no.1
Wow.... your response to my facts was, well....... overwhelming.
How do you respond to logic like that?

What facts would those be my friend?
re: Joe Calzaghe is the 2nd most overrated fighter of all time. Rocky Marciano is no.1
He has no facts he just hates fighters and kinda goes with it i think. Anyhow Jc is up there he beat good comp was the smw and lhw champ and was champ for 10 years with 20 odd title defenses. As for the Pavlik and Forch wanting to fight him they could not even beat guys he dealt with on the decline.
re: Joe Calzaghe is the 2nd most overrated fighter of all time. Rocky Marciano is no.1
Calzaghe and Marciano share unbeaten records, both were overrated, Marciano, to his credit, fought anyone who was out there, it was just that most of them were 40 years old or more. Calzaghe fought mostly bums, and then old men past their prime. God knows (hopefully) how he got the decision over Hopkins.
If you want to post about unbeaten British fighters then why not Terry Marsh? Or are you a Warren man.

Calzaghe beat Hopkins, yeah it was close on the scores, but I don't think calzaghe lost a round after the 4th, perhaps the 9th

Lol like Hopkins is some kind of evidence. Second last fight of the mans career against the biggest spoiler of the 21st century. Robinson lost to Archer and Harrington twice at the end of his career. In fact Robinson lost about ten times in his last two years. If Hopkins is the gauge for Joes career then Ray is surly overrated.

I find it hard to put Calzaghe and his career in the same breath as Robinson , to be fair.
Calzaghe didn't take many risks as a fighter , and was very well matched at the right times.
Good fighter yes , all time great no. Not even close.
re: Joe Calzaghe is the 2nd most overrated fighter of all time. Rocky Marciano is no.1
