How are you right? You said George was WAY overrated and only had a punchers chance yet the 2nd best guy at 168lbs went life and death with him twice. His punchers chance had him well ahead in the first fight and had it pretty even in the 2nd. Questioning his chin and stamina would be fine but there should be no question marks about his skill level.
life and death??? hahahaha First fight ol' Carl was just warmin' up. Took him a few rounds then he lowered the fucking boom. Same way Lennox took apart Vitali. Those aging Greats sometimes dont take fights seriously enough/dont train hard enough, and they pay a price for it like Lewis did against Vitali or Carl did the 1st fight with Groves. BUT COME ON WAKE THE FUCK UP... YOU CALL THE 2ND FIGHT "LIFE AND DEATH"???? HAHAHAHA groves only won 2 rounds, one even, at best.
Carl himself conceded that Groves was well in the fight and it was pretty even. I thought Groves won the 2nd, 5th and 7th rounds and was winning the 8th comfortably up until the knockout punch. I think you're letting hatred/wanting to be right cloud your judgement.

I gave Groves 1, 2, 3 or 4, 5 and 7. Think Sky tricked you Brock. Jim Watt was trying to claim Froch was winning the battle of the jabs despite landing fuck all. Most of Frochs shots were landing on arms and gloves, he did land some body shots but not enough to be winning rounds for me. It was pretty clear that sky were biased towards Groves. I have it 4-1 Groves after 5 but sky had it the other way around. I really thought they were trying to build hype for a third fight. Jim Watt had it 9-3 to Froch but judges gave it to Froch, robbery, they need a 3rd fight etc.
Re: George Groves is WAY overrated
No Groves is not way overrated. He shots were on target with power. Only time will tell. He looks like a guy who will be back.
Re: George Groves is WAY overrated
Groves will not be back. He has been KNOCKED OUT TWICE. Boxers dont recover psychologically from getting sparked out TWICE CONSECUTIVELY. I may have been favoring Froch, no doubt, but Froch was landing from the 3rd round that sneaky inside left hook, it was so perfect you almost missed it, sharp and hard, Froch is a great great puncher like Foreman, seems slow but deceptively. He was sneaking in that sharp hook. Groves landed nice rights but HE WAS REACHING, HE DIDNT HAVE HIS ARSE INTO THE PUNCHES. He fought the wrong fight, he should have gojne straight at him like he did in the 1st fight. He was fighting from the wrong distance for 4 rounds, yes he came on out of desperation in the 5th and won 3 rounds from there I would say. I gave Groves the 1st, 5th, 6th and I think one more even. Sky didnt influence me in the least as I was lsitening to Black sabbath at the time. Smoking pot and tripping on LSD. :) Froch did what ALL ATGs do, they make it happen under pressure, he found a way to win, he may have been tiring there from the 6th round, Groves was coming on for sure, nice right hands and stiff jabs , Groves is good, I will say very good, but not an individual with ATG in his veins. FROCH is an ATG, he has that magic, he wins.
Re: George Groves is WAY overrated
Lol Brock. You cant on the one hand claim that Froch is an ATG because of how he won the fight and on the other dismiss his competitor as being "way overrated" in a fight he was at least even in after 7 and winning on other score cards. When you factor in how many fights the young Groves has had, I'd call him an overachiever rather then overrated. The guys had only 21 fights and already has a better ledger then many had at the 30 or more mark.
He came across to me after the fight as a young man that will not be denied and it was genuine. I think this adversity that 99% of all other contenders don't have the cajones to take on this early is going to pay dividends. He's stubborn and that's a great quality in this sport that cant be taught. Real curious as to what Mr. Groves does next. I'd go for a Degale rematch. The calender could not be better for both men. They both just fought and have no commitments.
Re: George Groves is WAY overrated
Froch and atg do not even belong in the same sentence come on now good god. The man stayed at 168 only did fuck all for first part of his career and was never the man at his own division. He has a few good wins but i not sure if he even makes the hof let alone be called a fucking atg.

Re: George Groves is WAY overrated
Well brock i think your getting to old there bud what exactly makes Froch atg really. He was never the man fought garbage half of his career most of his top wins were against guys coming up. He has Bute, Pascal and Kessler who he is tied with thats not a atg resume.

Wards resume isnt much better? He has Froch who isnt an ATG and Dawson who was weight drained and shot.
Re: George Groves is WAY overrated
When did i bring up Ward his career still young never said he was atg. I am saying Froch is not maybe the hof fine but atg come on now. I mean does that make Kessler atg to because there about the same. Atg is a huge fucking thing for a man who was never the man in his own division don't you think.
Re: George Groves is WAY overrated
Groves is a very talented fighter but needs to learn to use at least a little more physicality in his fights. He is not David Haye so his power is not always going to be a great deterrent or an equaliser and he is not being massively out-weighed , so he needs to learn to tie-up and out-hustle. Keep fights working in his favour.
Not that he wasn't doing well against Carl but in hindsight, he shouldn't ever find himself fighting off the ropes. He's not that guy.
He has good feet and head movement. Shut-down and reset. That's the guy he needs to be.

Most would put Ward as an ATG (including me) but going by Resume his isnt much better then Froch. He also never fights away from home. Ward is 30 but going by his activity he dont have that many matches left in him.
I dont think Froch is an ATG at all. I actually dont rate him that highly at all. Groves is the only guy hes beaten who I think is any good and Ive always thought Groves was fragile. Kesseler is good but he looked pretty shot against Froch imo, Bute crumbled, Abraham and Taylor were MW and nowhere near top level at SMW

Does that mean that Ward is an all time great because he beat Froch ???

Well beating him so comfortably is impressive. Also beating a close to prime Kesseller helps. Things that go against him being an ATG is never fighting out of his country and rarely out of his own town. He should also move up in weight.
