Anyone that recognizes Cotto as the #1 MW in the world is dumb as a bag of shit.
To date, he hasn't fought at MW yet!
Just shows how stupid the sport has become, a guy can be the #1 in the world at a division that he's never fought in!
Ya'll can drink the kool aid but not me, GGG is the #1 now.
Then why the hell does Cotto being the MW champ bother you so much?

I think Cotto could beat Soliman.
Re: Cotto is not a MW Champ
Martinez was the lineal champion? Some place, wherever he may be, I bet Ken Overlin is really pissed.

I think the criteria should be crystal clear. To be considered the MW champ, or even a MW fighter, you should have to fight AT LEAST ONCE AT MIDDLEWEIGHT, not some lame catch weight. SRR didn't fight Jake Lamotta at 157 or 159.
Cotto is a great fighter but lets be honest, he saw an old, injury-riddled champ that was at the absolute end of his rope and ripe for the picking. That's Freddie's specialty (as he did with Pac/DLH).
As fans we need to tell these prima-donna sissies (Floyd, Pac, Cotto, ect) that catch weights are for fruits and we'll have none of it.
There are plenty of fighters who moved up to a weight they've never fought at to fight the champion. Stevenson never had a fight at LHW before he fought Dawson.
And like it or not, Cotto is the man who beat the man (Martinez) who beat the man (Pavlik).
