I'd say that'll end up being more than lucrative for them. The ad revenue they're going to generate for Mayweather's first free fight in 10 years will be off the charts.
Not $32 million worth.

They've already turned a HUGE profit on that contract. It worked out better for them than they could have imagined. On PPVs alone they turned a profit but PPV weren't the point from Showtimes perspective.
@Ron Swanson did you find the numbers involved with what they made on the contract. I'm just curious. It is very interesting that a Floyd fight will be on network. Funny, his last fight was the highest asked for ppv and now we go for a free view. It will be interesting to see market shares for the fight. I think CBS is reporting they are pleased with the market shares they are getting with boxing events but when I talk sports at work or in public the majority of people I talk to still have no idea of the boxing world. I still pay for both HBO and Showtime primarily for boxing. Especially in Showtimes case, they very rarely have anything that piques my interest.
Re: floyd vs berto.......meh
Not a good fight at all but I'm ok with it on free T.V. Dumb move for the network to pay that price, but it's not as insulting to fans on free t.v. While there r better fights for him out there, I'm not sure any fight with Floyd excites me at this point, if I'm being honest. I think Khan vs Brook, Porter vs Thurman, and Bradley vs Garcia r all more interesting at this point (or any match ups of those names). Floyd is brilliant but is too safety conscious these days to provide real excitement.

I guess thats ok though because all of these guys lost at least once prior to that. Floyd does not get the same pass because he's been undefeated for 17/18 years. But another fought the 17 and 2 Zolino Petelo for his 51st win w/o a loss and that's ok
Makes total sense.
Look the guy has given his entire life to the sport. He was probably on a mini bag before he could walk. Whether one likes him or think he's a scum bag is not even relevant The only difference between him and those other Atg's is that he's hated more. He's earned the right to fight whoever the fuck he wants on his way out the door. And once again if people are going to scrutinize him then lets do the same to all the other fighters of modern times that to this day get nothing but praise with their retirement fight or fights rarely if ever mentioned. If they are mentioned, there is always some attachment to it. Not for Floyd though cause even that has a different bar.
Fuck that.
Motherfucker is tryin for 49-0 and doing it against Berto??
That tells me a couple things.
1. He thinks he can lose, so picked Berto.
2. He doesn't care one little bit about what fans want.
I dont want any one of you pricks on this website to ever again say Khan doesn't deserve a Mayweather fight...... If Berto does then, pretty much every other fighter in the division does.
And who did Calzaghe finish with? Joes one of my faves but whats the difference and who did Marciano set that record with. Quality of name does not mean quality of fighter. Roy Jones was long gone as was Moore. And just who was Don Cockell?
Calzage ended with B-Hop and RJJ, two greats of the sport!
Hardly the same as Berto is it?
Let me guess B-hop was past it? Despite fighting the best fighters a decade on an winning the world title a couple times?
Sorry Fella but it aint the same thing you're chattin about right now.
Floyd is not TBE! Why? He simply had too much control over his own career and never fought who people wanted.
Everytime Floyd is setting up an opponent there is a preferred few fighters and recently he almost never picks any of them. (Pacquiao saga aside).
We all though It was a joke when he said Berto.... Which means he may have been serious about Mayfield.... Who the fuck is Mayfield??
Re: floyd vs berto.......meh
who gives a fuck about floyd
Re: floyd vs berto.......meh
Yeah... Fighters shouldn't have control over their careers... Who the fuck do they think they are!??

They shouldnt. They should fight who they are told to fight. Boxing needs to be taken away from the "business" bullshit and it could return to being a great sport.

I didn't say that, but welcome to the the female club. People who take what they hear and twist it to annoy themselves.
I said he has "too much" control, some is good but too much is not.
No one execept Floyd and Bertos camp really want this fight to happen.

I don't know about that.
It'll be a 3 hour broadcast, they'll show the under card, they'll show a lot of teasers/filler material where they can cut to commercials every couple of minutes, and those commercial spots are going to be extremely valuable. They were charging 4.5 million for 30 second ad spaces during the Super Bowl. Floyd vs Berto is NOT the Super Bowl obviously, but their spots aren't going to be cheap. Then you have to figure in advertisers and sponsors of the event, advertising space on the actual ring, ect. Then you factor in ticket sales, broadcasting rights, ect. They'll profit off of this, no problem.
