I agree.
"Usually" being the key word here.
I've seen cases in which this is not true. It's not a big deal, either.
Most if not all countries root for their own.
Let me put it this way. All other things being equal, fans will root for the local fighter...... usually.
Re: American fighters are born with a silver spoon in mouth. Home advantage. Fact.
For the record Ricky Hatton was Floyd biggest pay day at the time but could have been so in any country as long as it was on a American PPV. That's where the money is. HBO or the other one.
Re: American fighters are born with a silver spoon in mouth. Home advantage. Fact.
Americans don't root for their own?
I've never seen a fight where the American crowd were cheering for the foreigner (Las Vegas doesn't count). For sure there are Americans that wont support the American fighter just like there are Brits that wont support the Brit.
Re: American fighters are born with a silver spoon in mouth. Home advantage. Fact.
America is where the money is? Not sure about that, it needs some more extensive research
Re: American fighters are born with a silver spoon in mouth. Home advantage. Fact.
I'm American, I've cheered for others over American fighters. Guys who come and fight in America end up becoming the home fighter after winning over the crowd.
Examples...
Arturo Gatti: Italian/Canadian but the home favorite in Atlantic City, NJ
Miguel Cotto: Puerto Rican but known for fighting in New York City
Ike Ibeabuchi: Nigerian but very loved in Vegas and New Jersey
David Tua: New Zealander but very loved in Vegas and New Jersey
Andrew Golota: Polish but adored in Chicago
Tomasz Adamek: Polish but loved in New Jersey and Chicago
Julio Cesar Chavez: Mexican but beloved in Vegas, California, and New Jersey
Roberto Duran: Panamanian but well regarded everywhere in the US
John Duddy: Irish, loved in New York
Andy Lee: Irish, loved in New York
That's just off the top of my head, but there are PLENTY of fighters who have homefield advantage in the United States although they are from another country.

Perks of being a migrant country.

African American.
Irish American.
Polish American.
Italian American.
Mexican American.
There are fighters that base themselves in the states that become fan favourites. If a foreigner goes to fight Terence Crawford in Nebraska, Deontay Wilder in Alabama, Keith Thurman in Florida or Adrien Broner in Ohio etc etc. You hear nothing but - USA! USA! USA!

OMG, what a crock of sh*t. ;D ;D ;D
(Case dismissed amongst a roar of laughter from the crowd).

Ah yes the boxing Mecca's of Nebraska and Alabama :vd: .....Crawford, Wilder, Thurman, and Broner fighting in the state where they were born is a bit foolish to complain about. Those fighters probably personally invite friends and family to come see their bouts...why would they invite someone to boo them or cheer for their opponent? Are you suggesting that these fighters should have no home advantage ever?
Re: American fighters are born with a silver spoon in mouth. Home advantage. Fact.
I think Broner would get booed if he fought in his own living room, but let's let Fenster continue to believe that he would have throngs of people chanting "USA... USA... USA!!!!!"
You can't make this stuff up. ;D ;D ;D

Actually, those are all Mexicans shouting USA.
Re: American fighters are born with a silver spoon in mouth. Home advantage. Fact.
Who's complaining? Who said Americans shouldn't have home advantage?
America is no different to anywhere else when it comes to supporting your countrymen. In fact, as an outsider, I can confidently say your country is looked at as P4P no.1 for self cheerleading.
Just this year we've had James Degale, Carl Frampton, Jamie McDonnell and Ricky Burns fighting in America. Throughout the bouts the Brits were getting booed and the Americans were chanting USA! USA! USA!
10,000 Americans cheering for Crawford/Wilder in their hometown are 10,000 Americans. Fact.
Re: American fighters are born with a silver spoon in mouth. Home advantage. Fact.
Pretty sure I recently heard more boos during a Thurman and Broner fight than a Wrestling style USA USA USA ;D Now if you're at the Barclay center NY or Houston, they boo absolutely everything. I mean come on, last week a British and Japanese fighters going at it not once but twice in Texas ffs and crowds yelling like loons. You don't get any more American than that ;D
