Some on this forum really like to stick it to Floyd lol but you have to remember he's basically an old man well past his prime, when he was in his prime his fights were very exciting mostly ending by ko. Oscar is one of the most overrated fighters on all time how many genuine world class fighters did he beat while they were in there prime ?

TBE Is something invented by Floyd and most people don't necessarily believe that. Aged 34, Ali lost to a guy in his 7th pro fight. Floyd is aged 38, if that had happened to him, he would have been ridiculed forever and a day.
Factor in Ali's "bum of the month" European tour and it makes you think. I'm no Ali hater, I love the guy, but facts are facts.
Yet Floyd is expected to beat top p4p ers in every fight. I wasn't happy with the Berto fight, but I genuinely think he was literally just finishing off his contract, he's had a gutful.

I always make a point of staying up and watching Floyds fights, I'm not one of these who think his shit don't stink but good god I hope he stays retired and someday maybe people will stop talking about him and will focus on the new talent that is coming through.
This forum will go into absolute meltdown if he comes out of retirement.

I forgot to mention he's a pioneer in anti-doping.
He almost single handedly forced PED testing to be the norm all clean and hard working fighters now voluntarily submit to by demanding it before his fights.

IMO Floyd has been very fortunate in his timing
yes he picked his opponents very well and if the fans had picked his opponents then his record would have been very different
I reckon the only fights that might have happened about the time they did may have been Oscar, hatton, alverez, certainly after he moved up through the weights
but I think he has been luckiest with the climate of boxing, 20 years ago there were only a hand full of countries who were really taken seriously and that meant America had many fighters at the top
nowadays America are thin on the ground with prize fighters, most of their top athletes going to other sports
floyds style in the past wouldn't have attracted fans at any time, America needed that champion tho and as a result he was catapulted much higher than he wold have ever have been in the past
