Hearn knows Joshuas limitations.
Watch the Whyte fight back and watch that second round how stiff Joshua looked. Whyte may never have the finesse to take advantage but lots of fighters would have jabbed his head off, out maneuvered him and finished him off when he was hurt. There were pounts he was falling over himself throwing shots because he was so off balance, rolling his whole upper body down. He didnt look world class at all. He just happened to be a bit fitter than Whyte.
Hearn isnt going to put him in with a big undefeated southpaw.
The fact an opponent hasnt already been lined up for early April shows you Hearns predicament to find someone who can test Joshua without beating him.
An old experienced warhorse like Arreola may have finished Joshua in the second. It could have looked like Haye v Thompson and Price v Thompson, or Bruno v Witherspoon.

People are talking about Bruno's comeback and the comparisons have been made but Frank given the same circumstances would have taken this fight. Risk and Reward and the fundamentals it stands for in this sport have eroded. It’s now a rape of the rewards w/o any risk. Nobody had ever heard of Martin and his title fight was viewed as a joke because of the opponents and because it was a throwaway title by Fury. Now it’s too big a risk for boxing’s newest deliverer of heavyweight purgatory. And to offer to come to England, I already like the guy. Big deal that Whyte gave him some issues. Joshua probably fought that fight on nervous energy and the event however trivial to the outside world occupied much of his because of the past. It wasn’t Mayorga/Forrest.
Boxing will eventually consist of champions and prospects alike fighting "risk-free" opposition, while big money fights are left to "marinate" (coined by ODLH?). The buildup to big fights will totally overwhelm the actual fights themselves. Marinating will eventually become "rotting", as time will come and go and fighters will continue their endless holding patterns. Every time a glitch appears in one of their fights, their handlers will go "OOPS..... not yet." Fans will grow old and die, and we'll just continue making threads of "What if X fought Y..... who would win?"
That's why I stick to football.

Should he?
He could now. Hes rated very high. Fuck knows why!
Beating Chisora arcording to some in here is a formality.
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Joshua has turned down the chance to fight Chisora for the European title according to boxing scene. Hearn says he's trying to make the Martin fight.
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
It's a fight that would sell big, right? Obviously Martin couldn't make much money fighting most anyone else, but if he's wiling to travel and fight Joshua in his first defense good for him, hope it happens.

I dont think a chisora fight for the european title was ever on the cards for Joshua was it?
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Chisora turned down the AJ fight, he said so himself in an IFL interview. Said he wasn't ready at this time for the fight.
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Chisora will never be ready, he is way past it.
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Haye, Wlad, Chisora, Wilder, Povetkin, Hughie Fury, Lolenga Mock and Paulie Malignaggi would've all finished Joshua off in that 2nd round when he was rocked. For sure...
Just like they would've finished off Tyson Fury when he got up from being blasted flat on his back against Steve Cunningham and the journeyman that couldn't crack an egg.
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Joshua was not that badly rocked and in trouble. He was hit and hurt but composed himself later and took over the fight in a classy way which showed he is a capable and potential world class fighter.
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Joshua was totally exposed in that 2nd round. If you get rocked when an 18 stone man detonates a flush left hook onto your bonce it means anyone who was a bit fitter would've ironed you out.
Eddie Hearn now knows he has to be very careful matching him, hence why they never mention the likes of George Arias or Hughie Fury.
Re: Hearn turns down title shot for AJ???
Its how stiff he looked. Like a robot, thats how he got caught. He didnt get caught mucking around like Fury did. Hes just not mobile enough. Hes big and steong and that got him out of trouble but a more experienced boxer would have seen him off rather than swinging wildly and missing everything.

If you mean Haye and Wilder then yes AJ must be careful against these fighters but that applies to any boxer...... Hang on you being sarcastic.
